    摘要: A converter, for use in high voltage direct and alternating current power transmission comprises a primary charge transfer converter. The charge transfer converter includes first and second primary terminals for connection to one or more electrical networks. The primary charge transfer converter also includes a plurality of charge transfer elements and a plurality of primary switching elements which are connected in a cascade circuit between the first and second primary terminals. Each charge transfer element includes at least one resonant circuit. The primary switching elements are operable to selectively cause charging and discharging of each resonant circuit to transfer charge between the charge transfer elements and thereby create a voltage difference between the first and second primary terminals.

    摘要: An output terminal (P2) of a positive voltage generating circuit (2) and an output terminal (Q1) of a negative voltage generating circuit (4) are connected in series, and an output terminal (Q2) of the negative voltage generating circuit (4) is connected to a ground via a resistor (9). A switching circuit (62, 65) and a series connection circuit of resistors (60, 61, 63, 64) are connected in parallel to each other between the output terminals (P1, P2, Q1, Q2) of the positive voltage generating circuit (2) and the negative voltage generating circuit (4). The switching circuit (65) is on-off driven by a voltage signal taken from a junction point between the resistors (60, 61), and the switching circuit (62) is on-off driven by a voltage signal taken from a junction point between the resistors (63, 64). Accordingly, when the polarity of an output voltage is switched, electric charges accumulated up to that point are discharged through the switching circuit (62, 65) of a voltage OFF-side polarity, so that the voltage quickly falls. As a result, the speed of switching the polarity of the voltage is further increased than before.

The second input 14a of the first multiplier stage 12a provides an input for an AC voltage source. The buffer capacitor C3 of the first multiplier stage 12a comprises two series connected buffer capacitor parts C3a, C3b. An input 20 for the AC voltage source 34 is provided between the two buffer capacitor parts C3a, C3b.
