Abstract:
Provided is a seawater desalting apparatus using solar energy for continuously supplying heat, comprising a seawater purifying system and a seawater desalting system, wherein the seawater purifying system consists of an extraction seawater well (6a), a seawater sterilizing clarification pool (6), a multi-stage ultra-filter pool (7) and a purified seawater pool (8); and the seawater desalting system consists of a solar energy concentration and heat collection apparatus (1), a solar energy heat storage tank (2), a purified seawater heater (3) and a multi-stage seawater flash evaporator. The solar energy concentration and heat collection apparatus (1) collects sunlight heat energy via a heat-conducting working medium during daytime, stores the sunlight heat energy in the solar energy heat storage tank (2), and then heats the purified seawater via the heat-conducting working medium to a certain temperature; the hot seawater is conveyed to the multi-stage flash evaporator, and sprayed and evaporated stage by stage, and fresh water and brine are separated out. Also disclosed is a seawater desalting method using solar energy for continuously supplying heat. The seawater desalting apparatus using solar energy for continuously supplying heat can effectively collect relatively scattered solar energy to heat and evaporate seawater, the quality of the resulting fresh water reaches the drinking water standards, and solar energy is stored to allow continuous operation to produce fresh water.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to low cost water purification device. In particular the invention relates to point of use water purification devices that do not require running water or electricity. It is an object of the present invention to provide a low cost water purification device that provides for clean potable water, especially to provide a low cost water purification device that can be easily folded and transported and that can be operated when hung up. It has been found that sealing a foldable, flexible, plastic sheet material into housing comprising chambers formed by heat-sealing the plastic housing material together and one or more filters and a disinfection cartridge, provides a light weight, low cost, foldable water purification device that can provide water free from suspended particles, colored bodies, certain pesticides and also 6-log reduction of bacteria, 4-log reduction of viruses and 3-log reduction of cysts.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for treating tap water, comprising the steps of exposing running tap water to UV radiation with UV generating means capable of exposing the water to UV light for creating radicals, which radicals treat the water. The invention is characterised in the introduction of carbon dioxide bubbles upstream said UV generating means. The carbon dioxide bubbles create a scattering of said UV light for enhancing the treatment, and they also carbonate the water for drinking purposes.
Abstract:
An apparatus and methods for producing purified drinking water are disclosed. A hand pump is used in a closed system to generate pressure sufficient to pass the untreated water through a system of filters and a reverse osmosis membrane. The system preferably includes an ultrafiltration filter. The resulting water is substantially pure, being free of bacteria and having a significant amount of minerals and salts removed to make it safe for drinking. The system can produce enough potable water to supply the daily needs for a small village.
Abstract:
A portable, potable-water generator for producing high-purity liquid water by condensation of dew from ambient air. The generator employs filtration subsystems to remove particulates and aerosols from the incoming air. An enclosed heat absorber cools the filtered air to its dew point and collects droplets of condensate into a closed system. The collected dew is further continually treated in a bacteriostat loop to destroy adventitious living organisms and to filter out undesirable and dangerous contaminants. All the subsystems are failsafe-interlocked to disable the generator immediately and prevent delivery of water if any one of them stops functioning within predetermined safe limits.
Abstract:
A water purification and/or desalination plant for producing drinking water from a polluted water source or sea water with the aid of sunlight, which plant includes an evaporator (1) having a roof part (2) made of a light-penetrable material, and an underlying basin part (3) containing the water that is to be purified, which basin part (3) includes channels (17) for collecting water vapor that has been condensed on the inside of the roof part (2), and a reservoir (10) for purified water. The plant also includes a device for removing moist air or vapor from the evaporator and a device for condensation of the moist air or vapor outside the evaporator.

Abstract:
Improvements in or relating to apparatus for the desalination of seawater. The invention relates to desalination apparatus which utilises solar energy and is thereby capable of continuously providing sufficient pure water for drinking, irrigation, etc. economically. A lagoon for seawater is heated by solar energy and the seawater is transferred to a vacuum boiler (30), steam being delivered through a turbine (54) to a condenser (22). The turbine (54) generates the power necessary for the running of the apparatus. Pure water is collected from the condenser (22) and the seawater remaining in the boiler (30) is returned to the lagoon through flexible tubes (14) arranged on a terraced support sloping down to the lagoon, the tubes (14) defining a collector for solar energy. The salinity balance in the seawater returned from the boiler (30) is maintained continuously by a flow circuit (44, 48) so arranged as to require no additional power consumption.
