The mixing apparatus (18) has a plurality of holding tanks (20) in fluid communication with a first fluid delivery system (24) and a mixer (40). A pressure tank (42) is provided which is in fluid communication with the mixer (40). A spray device (58) is provided which is in fluid communication with a second fluid delivery system (52) and the pressure tank (42). A plurality of liquids or fluids are flowed through the first fluid delivery system (24), the plurality of liquids or fluids are mixed in the mixer (40) to yield a mixed solution which is flowed to the pressure tank (42) and the mixed solution is flowed through the second fluid delivery system (52) and dispensed on the can end (10). A method for the repair of coating adhered on a can end is provided as well.

The invention provides a method of producing silicon-on-porous-silicon material comprising the steps of (i) manufacturing a porous silicon layer on a suitable silicon wafer, such that the silicon wafer has a porous silicon surface and a non-porous silicon surface, (ii) applying an implanted ion dose to at least a portion of the porous silicon surface such that the dose is sufficient to cause amorphization of porous silicon. The material produced by the method of the invention can then be used for production of silicon-on-insulator material by oxidation of remaining porous silicon and recrystallization of amorphised silicon. Typically such material can be used for manufacture of e.g. SOI C-MOS devices and bipolar transistors. Alternatively, the method of the invention can be used for the manufacture of e.g. pyroelectric devices.

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for spraying powder into the interior of welded hollow can bodies from a spray gun mounted to the welding arm of a can forming machine. The spray gun can either apply a stripe of highly charged powder on the welded seam areas of hollow can bodies, or can simultaneously apply a coating of powder having a first thickness on the longitudinally welded seam areas and a second thickness less than the first thickness on the remainder of the interior surface. Air is vented off from the powder flow being transported through the welding arm so that the powder to air ratio is increased. Air is introduced at the downstream end of the welding arm to provide a suction force to help draw the powder flow through the welding arm and to increase the velocity of the powder flow for better tribo charging of the powder in the gun and to improve spray pattern stability. A flow of cleaning air through the powder spray gun prevents powder from collecting on the front surface of an offset nozzle secured to the spray gun. The gun assembly is affectively grounded to prevent arcing, and has an exterior shape which has been geometrically configured to improve powder coating of the can.

Such a device comprises a frame (110) carrying two arms, including (7a), which are capable of rotating about an axis, including (yy), and carrying each a flange (9a), for example, adapted each to a given type of cone (1). Said flange (9a) has two functions: one function is to provide for the centering according to an axis (xx) of the neck (3) of the cone (1) and the other function is to define a reference line (LR). With these arms cooperate, on the one hand, a bearing plane (4) on which the cone (1) is layed and centered in a horizontal plane, and on the other hand, a graphitizing system (77) so that the brush (21) reaches in its high position a predetermined upper limit (Lg), and finally, a combination of means providing for the upwardly translational motion of the bearing plane (4) and of the graphitizing system, the regulated lowering of the latter, the bearing plane remaining motionless during this lowering phase of the brush (21). The invention applies to the fabrication of cathode-ray tubes.
