    摘要: The invention relates to a deposit lock for interconnection of shopping or luggage trolleys or the like, comprising a housing attachable to the shopping trolley and having on one side an opening for inserting a coupling member and on the other side a opening for inserting a coin and/or a card. The inside of said housing has a holding device for fixing the coupling member in position and a receiving device for secure enclosure of the inserted coin or card, and a release mechanism which releases the coupling member when the coin or card is inserted, and releases the coin or card when the coupling member is inserted. The deposit lock operates in a reliable manner in that the release mechanism has a rocker with a swivel pin oriented transversely to the direction of insertion of the coupling member or the coin or card and parallel to the plane of the coin or card, and by inserting the coin or card the rocker can be pivoted in the one direction in which the holding device releases the coupling member, and by inserting the coupling member it can be pivoted in the other direction in which the receiving device releases the coin or card.

    摘要: A trolley locking device of the type comprising two co-operating parts, one of which is attached to each of two trolleys and whereof one part is a lock unit (4) and the other is a key unit (6). The key and lock units are adapted to be releasable locked together with a coin or token is introduced into a slot (12) the side of the lock unit which enables the key (6) to move a plug inside the lock unit (4) axially to free the plug for rotation between two terminal positions thereof. The key (6) engages the coin or token which acts as the medium for creating axial movement of the plug which is biased against such movement. Co-operating formations on the plug and lock unit prevent rotation of the plug unless moved axially againstthe bias applied to the plug. The coin or token can only be removed whilst the key and lock unit are engaged and the key can only be removed from the lock unit when a coin or token is present in the latter.

    摘要: A cart management apparatus for retaining and vending carts such as luggage carts, shopping carts, and strollers, includes a retaining rail for receiving cart keys disposed on the carts, a rotatable paddlewheel including a plurality of paddles, at least one of which projects into the retaining rail to provide an obstruction therein, an electromagnetic brake coupled to the paddlewheel to selectively inhibit rotation of the paddlewheel and restrict removal of cart keys from the rail, and a one-way clutch, also coupled to the paddlewheel to allow free rotation of the paddlewheel in a return direction to allow cart keys to be inserted into the retaining rail when carts are returned to the apparatus. The preferred apparatus may be used with existing carts which are retrofit with cart keys that are suitable for being retained within the rail. Furthermore, a plurality of electronic sensors are utilized to detect the removal and return of carts to the apparatus and thereby prevent theft or rewards dispensed by the system. In particular, one such sensor utilizes a transmitter and a receiver which are coupled to a transmitter and receiver of a cart key located in close proximity thereto to determine whether a valid cart key is being detected by the sensor, as well as the unique identity of that cart key, so that the apparatus may maintain a queue of the carts retained therein. A control unit in the preferred apparatus utilizes a non-volatile audit memory mounted in the apparatus for storing system parameters such as statistical and configuration information, whereby if the control unit is replaced the system parameters may be restored to the new control unit.
