Cart control systems comprise a cart with one or more swivel casters, a wall, and a guide surface proximate the wall that is configured to swivel outwardly at least one of the swivel casters to be directed toward the wall when the swivel caster traverses the guide surface in a direction substantially parallel to the wall. When the caster is directed toward the wall, the floor contact of the caster is further away from the wall than the swivel axis of the caster and generally under the cart. When reversing direction, the caster swivels outwardly, with the floor contact remaining further away from the wall and generally under the cart. Thus, the caster does not swivel into the wall and jam the cart.

The present invention provides a system for monitoring and tracking transporting units. The system utilizes a monitoring device fitted to a transporting unit to collect data pertaining to the transporting unit and transferring the data along with a unique ID for monitoring device it to a reader device for a particular geographical area. Each reader device for a geographical area transfers data collected for a plurality of monitoring devices in its geographical area to a centralized server. The server stores the data in a database. The data server uses algorithms to calculate positions of transporting units, load managing for the reader devices, boundary crossing occurrences by a transporting unit, triggering alarm and/or locking wheels for the transporting unit when the device is out-of-range or stolen, and for searching the transporting unit. A user can view the data stored, data computed via. Algorithms and alerts are generated by the data server.

The token (reference 1), as shown in Fig. 1, the main function of which, when it is fitted in the locking anchoring device (reference 2) of the cart, for example of the caddie® brand, or any other mobile means, is to unlock it therefrom, is provided with a securely fixed flexible tie (reference 3) made of steel or any other material that implicitly provides the function of inherent mechanical strength, such as cable, small chain, thus providing an anti-theft protection function for any object hung or arranged behind the mobile means. This flexible mechanical tie has at its end a loop or a ring (reference 4). Thus, when a user of the mobile means wishes to be protected against the theft of his or her bag or handbag hung or arranged behind said mobile means, before the token is introduced into the locking anchoring device, he or she passes the tie through a resistant element of the bag, then passes this strand through the loop or ring such that the bag cannot be removed from the mobile means, i.e. cannot be stolen. Another possible version of the token, which has a slot, makes it possible very easily to pass the tie through the end ring, thus allowing redundancy of the anti-theft function on account of being tied twice: firstly to the locking anchoring device of the cart, secondly by simple fastening to a structural element of the cart.
