Abstract:
A V-ribbed belt that includes a ribbed surface covered with fabric is provided. The fabric is stretchable in two predetermined directions. A method for manufacturing the V-ribbed belt is also provided. The method includes placing a belt matrix about a mandrel, placing a fabric about the external circumference of the belt matrix which wraps around the mandrel, placing the mandrel inside a shell having a plurality of grooves on the internal circumference, expanding the belt matrix and the fabric toward the internal circumference of the shell and thus pressing the fabric onto the internal circumference having the multi-ribbed structure, and curing the belt matrix with the fabric. The fabric is stretchable to accommodate itself to the multi-ribbed structure.

An apparatus and method for manufacturing articles made of polyurethane that includes a mold assembly (12) in communication with a mix chamber (50). The mix chamber (50) is positioned below the mold assembly (12). The mix chamber (50) includes a propeller (102) for mixing the liquid polyurethane chemicals. The mix chamber (50) further includes a pneumatically actuated bladder (110) that causes the mixed chemicals to move from the mix chamber (50) to the mold assembly (12). The chemicals expand to take on the shape of the mold (12). The method of the present invention includes the steps of: (a) selecting polyurethane chemicals having certain specific weights; (b) placing said chemicals in a mix chamber wherein chemicals stratify according to their specific weights to prevent detrimental reaction among the chemicals until final mixing; and (c) allowing the chemicals to expand to form an article.

Methods for manufacturing a composite rubber tire with a polyurethane tread comprise: treating an outer surface of an internal rubber body; preparing a polyurethane pre-polymer; improving the polyurethane pre-polymer; and applying the polyurethane pre-polymer to the treated outer surface of the internal rubber body to mold a polyurethane tread. Thereby, the composite rubber tire with the polyurethane tread is achieved and has excellent characteristics such as low rolling resistance, low oil consumption, excellent durability and low environmental contamination. Additionally, the methods constitute simple manufacturing processes that reduce manufacturing costs of the composite rubber tire with the polyurethane tread.

A method for molding articles where a composition is used to treat at least one shape determining face of a mold to impart durable release characteristics to said face which last through multiple molding cycles. The compositions comprise by weight 20 parts of primarily hydroxyl endblocked polydimethylsiloxane, 2 to 10 parts of alkyltriacetoxysilane, to 80 parts of nonreactive organic solvent, and, optionally, 0.001 to 2 parts organometallic catalyst.
