Es wird ein Verfahren zur Randbearbeitung einer optischen Linse (L), insbesondere eines Brillenglases offenbart, mit den Schritten: Vorbearbeiten des Randes (R) der um eine Werkstückdrehachse (C) winkelgesteuert drehbaren Linse mittels eines radial relativ zur Werkstückdrehachse zustellbaren ersten Randbearbeitungswerkzeugs, wobei die Linse eine bis auf ein geringfügiges Übermaß der Umfangskontur einer Linsenfassung entsprechende Umfangskontur erhält, berührungsloses Messen des vorbearbeiteten Linsenrandes und Fertigbearbeiten des Linsenrandes unter Berücksichtigung der ermittelten Randdaten der vorbearbeiteten Linse mittels eines relativ zur Werkstückdrehachse radial zustellbaren zweiten Randbearbeitungswerkzeugs, wobei die Linse eine zur Umfangskontur der Linsenfassung im wesentlichen komplementäre Umfangskontur erhält. Erfindungsgemäß wird beim Vorbearbeiten des Linsenrandes eine im trockenen Zustand definiert matte Randoberfläche erzeugt und sodann die trockene bzw. getrocknete Oberfläche mittels einer einen Laser (28) und eine Videokamera (30) umfassenden, auf besondere Weise berührungslos arbeitenden Meßanordnung (26) gemessen, um die Randdaten der vorbearbeiteten Linse mit erhöhter Genauigkeit und deutlich schneller als bisher möglich zu ermitteln.

The system comprises a sensor (8) of the output operation parameter ΔM for providing a signal Uc proportional to a current value ΔMc, and an adaptive controller (10) for determining a value Fc to which the input operation parameter F should be adjusted, as a function of kUc, where k is a signal transmission coefficient which comprises an invariant signal transmission coefficient component ko inversely proportional to ΔMo. The adaptive controller (10) includes an amplifier (14) transforming the signal Uc into koUc, and an input parameter override unit (9) controlled to adjust the controlled operation input parameter to Fc. The adaptive controller (10) further comprises a correction processing means (16) calculating kcUc, where kc is a varying signal transmission coefficient component whose current values depend on the variation of the operation condition B = B(t). The adaptive controller (10) is capable of calculating k=f(ko,kc).

The router ( 40 ), located on the Z-arm ( 30 ), moves downward to engage a router bit ( 42 ) to the panel ( 60 ) to depanel the printed circuit board ( 62 ) from the panel. A fixture chip ( 72 ), which has a preprogrammed pattern of the panel ( 60 ), is embedded inside the fixture ( 58 ). A radio frequency transmitter ( 80 ) transmits the pattern to a radio frequency receiver ( 82 ) that relays the pattern to the controller ( 64 ).

A method and apparatus for measuring the depth of a hole in a composite-material workpiece being machined by a rotating and orbiting cutting tool (14). The method includes the steps of applying a low-level electric potential to an electrically insulated cutting tool (14), the cutting tool having a cutting head (57) with radial and axial cutting edges (60, 58) and with a predetermined axial length (L), determining a first zero reference position of the cutting tool as it initially contacts a first surface of the workpiece and thereby closes an electric circuit through a grounded workpiece (W), and detecting a second reference position when the cutting head (57) of the cutting tool (14) penetrates an opposite, second surface of the workpiece. The reference positions are registered by a measuring means. The depth of the finished hole is determined by deducting the predetermined axial length (L) of the cutting head (57) having penetrated the workpiece from the total length of axial advancement of the cutting tool from the first zero reference position to the second reference position. The orbital machining apparatus includes ceramic bearings (40) electrically insulating the spindle (13) and the cutting tool (14) from surrounding components of the apparatus.
