A linear offset motion assembly (28,29,30,31,40,41,43,45) is provided for moving the reciprocating blades (26) alternately upstream and downstream into linearly-offset cutting and non-cutting positions relative to the stock. An electronic controller such as an encoder (19) is provided for coordinating the reciprocating movement of the blades (26) and the linear offset motion of the blades (26) to thereby permit continuous movement of the stock while the blades (26) are in both the cutting and non-cutting positions and strokes.

A light, compact and cost-efficient hand-guided jig saw machine can be produced by virtue of the fact that the lower limb (221) supports, especially in a base housing (12), both the motor (11) and the transmission means (114, 115, 116, 119, 67) which effect the reciprocative motion of the saw blade (33), whereby a motor shaft (1103) is coupled to a crankshaft (116) in a manner that is parallel to the limb (221). A first blade clamp (30) is disposed at the forward end of the pivoting arm (7) and secures the upper end of a saw blade (27). The lower end of the saw blade (27) is secured in a second blade clamp (30) disposed at the forward end of a lower arm (9). A wedge (41) is disposed within the housinc (5), in contact with the inner surface of the housing (5). The wedge (41) is also disposed in contact with and translatable along a surface of the pivoting arm (7). A rod (43) is linked to the wedge (41) at one end and extends through the pivoting arm (7). The rod (43) includes an upwardly turned arm (43a). A cam (45) having a spiral track (45b) is rotatably mounted at the front of the pivoting arm (7) with the upwardly turned arm (43a) disposed in the track (45b). Rotation of the cam (45) causes the track (45b) to move along the upwardly turned arm (43a), further causing the rod (43) and wedge (41) to move forwardly, with the contact between the wedge (41) and the inner surface causing the wedge (41) and the rearward end of the pivoting arm (7) to pivot downwardly, and the forward end of the pivoting arm (7) to pivot upwardly to increase the tension of the blade (27).

Das Sägeblatt (9) ist an einem die beiden Längsarme (1, 2) verbindenden Verbindungsschenkel (6) befestigt, wobei die beiden Längsarme (1, 2) in ihrer Längsrichtung verschieblich angeordnet sind. An mindestens einem der beiden Längsarme (2) ist ein Führungselement (12), beispielsweise in Form einer beweglichen Rolle, an einer vorzugsweise im spitzen Winkel zum Verbindungsschenkel (6) geneigten, feststehenden Führungsfläche (14) zwangsgeführt. Durch diese Zwangsführung wird die Rückwärtsbewegung des Sägeblattes von der Schnittkante während des Leerhubes auf ein gewünschtes Maß reduziert. Damit ist bei kleiner Baugröße und gleichzeitig großem Hub eine Stichsäge realisierbar, bei der einerseits das Sägeblatt ständig parallel zur Schnittkante geführt ist und andererseits während des Leerhubes um ein geringes Maß von der Schnittkante zurückbewegt wird.

Beide Federn halten das an den Vorderenden der Wipp arme eingehängte Sägeblatt (30) auf Spannung. Der untere Wipparm wird mittels eines Kurbelantriebes (40) ange trieben. Das Wipparmsystem (18, 20) ist von der Länge der Rahmenschenkel unabhängig und kann somit für unter schiedlich große Typen verwendet werden. Die unter schiedlichen Wipparmlängen bewirken eine Pendelbe wegung des Sägeblattes und führen zu einer hohen Sägelei stung.
