摘要： The difficulties of providing a splint or stretcher, for use for example at the scene of an accident, which is both conveniently stored and easily assembled and applied are overcome by providing a blank for a splint or stretcher of corrugated plastic material. This has a panel 12 consisting of spaced apart sheets joined by longitudinal ribs which on folding forms a base 22 and outer sidewalls 24,26 and an extension panel 14 which forms an extension base 40 and extension walls 42,44. Portions 48,49 are pressed out on assembly and tabs 31,32 engage slots 58,60 to hold the panels 14 and 10 in a selected orientation thus providing an arm splint. Panels 14 and 10 may alternatively be kept aligned and extension 82 folded at fold line 72 and kept in position by locking panels 84 and 86 thus providing a splint for a leg. A panel of the same shape and larger dimensions, if only the sides 42,24,84; 44,26,86 are folded, may be used as a stretcher. The design and plastics material results in a light, easily stored, easily assembled and inexpensive splint or stretcher which is also substantially transparent to X rays.

摘要： There is disclosed a container (1) of a size suitable for accommodating a human body and comprising two trough-shaped members (3, 5) detachably connected together by a number of fasteners, and having seals (15) arranged along the free edges (13) of the members (3, 5). Each seal (15) comprises a U-shaped portion (36) into which a respective edge flange (13) is received, a hollow D-shaped elongate portion (37) which is resiliently deformable upon closure of the container so as to make sealing contact with the hollow elongate portion (37) of the other seal, and sealing lips (33) projecting from the outer surface (39) of the hollow elongate portion (37) and laterally deformable into sealing contact with the sealing lips (33) and/or the outer surface (39) of the hollow elongate portion of the other seal upon closure of the container. One side of the U-shaped portion (36) is formed by a resilient flange (31) which can be deformed laterally to allow each seal (15) to be fitted over the edge flange (13), and the flange (31) terminates in a lip (38) which is located at the transition (40) between the outer surface (41) of the main body of each half (3, 5) of the container and its free edge flange (13). This forms a smooth transition between the outer surface (41) and the flange (31) so as to facilitate handling, and to minimise the risk of the seal becoming dislodged in service.

The apparatus includes a child support device that includes a semi-rigid base and a cover attachable to the base so as to secure the child between the base and the cover. The base includes two layers of material and a semi-rigid support insertable between the layers of material. The lower layer of material has apertures through which fastening members of the semi-rigid support extend. The apparatus further includes a restraining harness for interconnecting the fastening members of the child support with the transporting device such that movement of the child support relative to the transporting device is restrained.
