The inventive method for producing insulin consists in using a reindeer pancreas which is homogenized in an ethanol hydrochloride solution, whereupon extraction is effected followed by clarifying the solution to obtain a supernatant fluid which is subjected to an ion-exchange chromatography and isoelectric precipitation to produce insulin as the desired product which is purified by a high-efficiency reversed-phase liquid co-chromatography. The resultant insulin is capable of competing for a bond with an insulin receptor at a concentration over 100 ng/ml.
A method for crystallizing insulin or insulin analogs under alkaline conditions and purifying the insulin or insulin analog crystals by filtering through a filter and drying the insulin or insulin analog crystals captured on the filter to produce crystalline insulin or insulin analog crystal compositions is described. In particular aspects, the method may be used to crystalize insulin glargine.

The inventive method for producing insulin consists in using a reindeer pancreas which is homogenised in a hydrochloride ethanol solution. Afterwards, the extraction associated with the subsequent clarification of the solution and a supernatant production is carried out. Said supernatant is exposed to an ion-exchange chromatography and isoelectric precipitation, thereby producing insulin which is purified by means of a high-efficient reversed-phase liquid chromatography. The thus produced insulin can compete for a bond with an insulin receptor at a concentration higher than 100 ng/ml.
