    摘要: Corn steep liquor, i.e. the aqueous liquid obtained when corn (maize) is digested with warm water to soften and swell the corn grain, is subjected to a treatment comprising separating the water from the corn, initially adjusting the pH of the water to a value of at least about 3.5 and then maintaining the water in contact with process biomass for a period in excess of 4 hours at a temperature of from 40° to 48°C. The treated corn steep liquor is useful as a feedstock for organisms used in the industrial production of antibiotics such as penicillin.

    摘要: A method of extracting particulate matter from waste material produced by peeling vegetable products, especially for extracting starch from waste material produced in peeling root vegetables. The waste material including the particulate material is by means of a liquid supplied to a moving filter belt (10) from which liquid containing particulate matter is sucked away. Liquid containing a high percentage of particulate matter and sucked away from the filter belt is recirculated to the filter belt at a location thereof which in the direction of movement of the belt is positioned after the point of the belt where the waste material from the peeling machine is supplied. Thereby, the waste material forms at the filter belt a filter cake for filtering the recirculated liquid containing particulate matter. The invention also relates to a device for extracting particulate matter from waste material produced in peeling vegetable products.
