The invention relates to an arrangement and to a method for the automatic sampling in a storage tank system (1) interconnected to a pipe system (4) for supplying cleaning fluids, particularly in processing systems subject to high microbiological quality requirements in the food and beverage industries, particularly in breweries, comprising a storage tank system (1) having a plurality of tanks and a sampling device (5) that is associated with all tanks in a fixed pipe connection. The invention ensures that the entire sampling system, including all valves integrated therein, can be cleaned and sterilized at the discharge independent of the content of the tanks. Furthermore, the sampling is to be carried out without experiencing any loss of the fluid to be sampled. This is procedurally achieved in that a volume flow Q(P) of the fluid (P) to be sampled is diverted from a selected tank (1.i), wherein this volume flow Q(P) is fed to the sampling device (5), and returned from the same back into the selected tank (1.i), and wherein a quality control of the fluid (P) to be sampled is carried out at the discharge during circulation of the volume flow Q(P), and/or a sample amount (PR) of the fluid (P) is diverted from the volume flow Q(P).

A precision fluid dispensing system containing at least one two-piece pump (1,2) and a precision closed loop controller drive system to address the small volume precision dispensing requirements of bioscience applications. A multiple diameter pump can be combined with a pump having multiple inlet (3) and outlet (4) ports to allow for precision multiple outlet dispenses in a single pump that finds use with microtiter plate pipetting and other precision dispensing. Inlet ports can be located on the smaller diameter (9) of the cylinder with outlet ports on the larger diameter (8) of the cylinder. A micro-controller with closed loop feedback provides exact linear positioning and motion of the pump piston (12) as well as optional control of a nozzle to provide exact microdispensing of fluids.

Several pin transfer assemblies are disclosed that utilize the surface tension of liquids for picking up and dispensing minute volumes of liquid form wells in a first well plate to a flat substrate surface or into wells in a second well plate. In one embodiment, a plurality of pins (14) reciprocate through complementary arrays of holes (16) in a base plate (12) and an overlying spring plate biased apart by coil springs located around the periphery of the base plate. A foam layer sits on top of the spring plate and a weight plate (18) sits on top of the foam layer. A sing coil spring is positioned between a center of the weight plate and the cover to push the weight plated downwardly. The periphery of the cover guides the vertical movements of the weight plate and is connected to the periphery of the base plate. The periphery of the base plate is supported by a frame used to register the pin assembly in a receptacle of a manual or automated liquid transfer apparatus.
