A method for recording character or marking signals by multi-beam laser technique, in which the characters are recorded in multi-rastered bands in such a way that the character information is inverted, whereby the recording surface is illuminated by the laser beams at each location that do not comprise characters or marks. In character locations the surface is not illuminated. The gaps between adjacent bands are illuminated by separate band gap illuminating laser beams. By using this method the electrophotographic image recording can be solved by means of conventional inexpensive positive copiers in which image reversal does not take place. The apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a Bragg cell, a control unit for producing several raster scanning laser beams, and oscillators for generating additional band gap illuminating laser beams. An inverting unit is inserted in the path between the information source and the control unit to perform electronic image reversal.

[Object] To provide a recording medium that is strong in deformation, easy to handle, excellent in portability, and inexpensive, and a recording-medium driving device thereof. [Solving Means] When an end of a recording medium 10A inserted in an insertion hole 22 of the mounting portion 20, is screwed, a recording surface of the recording medium 10A (an outer peripheral surface of an outer cylindrical member 11) opposing a pickup 30A is moved in a peripheral direction. Therefore, data recorded on the recording medium 10A can be read out by the pickup 30A. The pickup 30 is only secured to a position opposing the recording surface of the recording medium 10, so that means for moving the pickup is not required. Therefore, an inexpensive recording-medium driving device having a simple structure can be provided.

A method of erasing information recorded on said optical carrier consists in the excitation of a high-frequency electrical charge inside a sealed closed cavity (5) of the cylinder (1). An optical memorization device for implementation of said method has an information erasing unit (11) comprising a high frequency charge excitation circuit with electrodes (12, 13), between which an optical information carrier (10) is placed in order to excitate a high-frequency charge inside its sealed closed cavity (5).

[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] When the end of a recording medium (10A) is inserted into an inserting hole (22) of a loading section (20) and twisted, the recording surface (the outer surface of an external tube member (11)) of the recording medium (10A) is circumferentially moved while being opposed to a pickup (30A). As a result, the pickup (30A) can read data recorded in the recording medium (10A). It is necessary only to fix the pickup (30A) at a position opposed to the recording surface of the recording medium (10). Therefore, no means for moving the pickup is needed, and the recording medium drive can have a simple structure and can be produced at a low cost.
