摘要: The present invention provides an inexpensive cathode ray tube envelope which suffers considerably diminished glass browning in comparison with traditional cathode ray tube envelopes. The method of reducing glass browning in cathode ray tubes, and a suitable glass composite and glass composition are also provided. The cathode ray tube envelope of the present invention includes a screen which has an inner and an outer glass layers. The inner layer is made of lead-free glass whereas the outer layer is made of lead-containing glass. In the operational cathode ray tube of the present invention, the electron beams emitted therein, are absorbed by the inner layer without substantial browning, since the inner layer does not contain material that cause browning, and do not penetrate to the lead-containing outer layer. At the same time, the X-rays produced in the cathode ray tube are effectively and efficiently blocked by the lead-containing outer layer. The result is both significant reduction in glass browning and effective X-ray protection.

摘要: First and second index signal phosphor layers are formed on a phosphor screen that is formed on the inner surface of a face plate. A rear plate (9) is provided with first and second light sensing units (19a, 19b) for detecting signal lights from the first and second index signal phosphor layers, respectively. Each first light sensing unit (19a) includes a first light collecting plate (30), which radiates absorbing light having a radiation peak wavelength substantially equal to or shorter than the radiation wavelength of each first index signal phosphor layer. Each second light sensing unit includes a second light collecting plate (36), which radiates absorbing light having a radiation peak wavelength substantially equal to or shorter than the radiation wavelength of each second index signal phosphor layer. Arranged between each second collecting plate and the rear plate is a filter (34), which transmits the index signal light from the second index signal phosphor layer and shades the index signal light from the first index signal phosphor layer.

摘要: A mosaic of monitor units (201, 202, etc.) contained in a single covering (30) provide higher-resolution monitor displays proportional to the number of monitor units contained in the monitor casement. The extension of the flat viewing surface of the monitor in one or more directions accomodates a touch screen function both over the monitor surface and in the area surrounding it with one transparent layer between both the electronic image and marginal fixed markings. The touch response surface reduces parallax factors. A receiver and signal processor (5) which outputs dual signals, the first defining the image in a Standard Broadcast mode and the second providing selected sharpness where detail is required. The method of transmitting only changes in the high-resolution areas cuts data transmission and recorded data levels.

摘要: A compact pulsed optical source of near to ultraviolet wavelength energy adapted to be connected to an external power source (55) includes a device (20) for emitting photons, apparatus (30) for transforming photons into photoelectrons, apparatus (40) for multiplying the photoelectrons, a lens (90), a phosphor coated anode (70), circuit apparatus (100) for providing a pulsed electric signal and first (50) and second (60) biasing apparatus. The emitting device (20) impinges photons on the photon transforming apparatus (30) which accelerates electrons to the multiplying apparatus (40) as pulses are received from the circuit apparatus which relates the multiplying apparatus to the transforming apparatus. With each pulse, a cloud of electrons (42) is emitted from the multiplying apparatus (40) and excites the phosphor coated anode (70) thereby causing optical emission.

摘要: A glass envelope for a cathode ray tube (10) and a method of production. The envelope comprises (12) a panel member having a thickness (t) that is defined by an equation which involves net tensile stress; wherein the panel having a net tensile stress not exceeding 1150 psi, having a surface compression induced during panel manufacture, and having an implosion protection band (30) shrink-fitted around a skirt (20) on the panel that augments surface compression in the panel (12), whereby the panel thickness is substantially less than that of a corresponding untreated tube envelope.
