In accordance with the invention, the brewing machine (10) is able to brew a larger single cup of beverage, without affecting the quality of the beverage. The brewing machine includes an upper brewing chamber (12), and a lower second chamber (11) below the upper chamber (12) and filter means (20) between the upper and lower chambers. To increase the amount of beverage brewed, the size of the lower chamber (11) is increased by increasing the cross-sectional area of the lower chamber. However, the area of the upper opening (16) of the lower chamber is not increased. Specifically, a flange (15) extends inwardly from the top of the wall of the lower chamber to thereby cover a portion of the upper end of the bore of the lower chamber.

A heating element (200) is disposed in a base portion (66) of the lower carafe (14). The lower carafe (14) is removeably received on a support stand (16), and the heating element (200) of the lower carafe (14) is powered by the support stand (16) in use during a brewing sequence.

    摘要: To let the water pass quickly through the ground coffee layer at a temperature below 100°C, the water is heated to the desired temperature and is then vacuum drawn through the powdered coffee, the vacuum being generated by steam cooling and condensation.
