Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Ermittlung des Spulendurchmessers von Kreuzspulen (5) an einer Kreuzspulen herstellenden Textilmaschine mit einem Spulenrahmen (8) zum Haltern einer rotierbaren Kreuzspule, einer definiert ansteuerbaren Fadenverlegeeinrichtung (10) zum Changieren eines auf die Kreuzspule auflaufenden Fadens (16) und einem definiert ansteuerbaren Antrieb (34) zum Rotieren der Kreuzspule, wobei beide Antriebe voneinander unabhängig sind und die Drehzahlen der Spulenantriebswalze und der Kreuzspule erfasst werden, um daraus das Verhältnis und schließlich den theoretischen Kreuzspulendurchmesser zu berechnen. Erfindungsgemäß wird die Spulenantriebswalze (9) zyklisch an- und abgeschaltet und in den Auslaufphasen, während die Spulenantriebswalze (9) nicht angetrieben wird, werden die Drehzahlen der Spulenantriebswalze (9) und der Kreuzspule (5) erfasst, um daraus das Verhältnis und schließlich den tatsächlichen Kreuzspulendurchmesser zu berechnen.

Disclosed is a method for monitoring the presence of a finish on an applicator (6) when an amount of finish is applied to an advancing textile thread or yarn (2) by means of said applicator (6). The disclosed method comprises the following steps: - the amount of finish to be applied is delivered, especially from a storage vessel, through a duct (8) in the direction of the applicator by means of a dosing system (11) for controlled delivery of the finish to be applied; - a progress of a first finish temperature is measured in a first measurement point on the duct by means of a first temperature sensor (13); - a progress of a second finish temperature is measured in a second measurement point on the duct by means of a second temperature sensor (14); - the finish to be delivered is heated between the first and the second measurement point by means of a heater (16); and - the progress of the difference between the measured finish temperatures is determined, and the presence of the finish is monitored by evaluating the progress of the difference between the measured finish temperatures. The amount of delivered finish (25) is temporarily increased beyond the amount of finish to be applied during a certain interval by means of the dosing system (11) when the finish temperatures are measured.

A yarn processing system (T) consists of a yarn feeding device (F) and an accessory device (Z, Z1, Z2, Z3) associated to the yarn feeding device (F), said accessory device comprising a device part (K, M, 4) which is driven using a signal representing the rotational speed of a component of the yarn feeding device. Said signal is generated by an electronic sensor (S) galvanically separated from the control system (C) and the drive means (M) of the yarn feeding device (F). Said sensor (S) also is structurally independent from said yarn feeding device (F). The sensor is located at or close to the yarn feeding device (F) at a mounting location (X, X1) where a part of a rotating magnetic field is detected by said sensor at the mounting location. Said part of the magnetic field originating from inside of the yarn feeding device is not used for the operation of the yarn feeding device at the mounting location of the sensor (S). The sensor comprises a pick-up head responding to said part of the rotating magnetic field which part is present at the location of the sensor but is not used for the function of the yarn feeding device at said location.
