A motor vehicle is described (11), propelled by an internal combustion engine or by a hybrid engine, comprising means for the recovery of part of the energy employed in its travel. Said energy is employed in the production of compressed air, to be stored and/or used in activities connected with the vehicle (11) itself. A transmission control apparatus is arranged to selectively adjust the degree of engagement of at least one of the first (51) and second (52) transmissions, the transmission control apparatus comprising a variable-influence brake or clutch (58). In one aspect, an apparatus for use in forming a kinematic coupling having at least one component including a plate adapted for carrying a plurality of bearing elements comprises a template including a plurality of supports adapted for engaging and assisting in aligning the plurality of bearing elements relative to the plate of the component. The template may be used in forming either a top or base of the kinematic coupling. The top may further be adapted to be inverted relative to the base, which may also include bearing elements for receiving bearing elements associated with the top. Related methods are also disclosed.
