Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine capable of surely expanding a stratified combustion area to a high load side by assuring a reliable ignitability. SOLUTION: This cylinder injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine comprises an ignition plug, a cavity 802 formed in the top face of a piston, and a fuel injection nozzle 7 injecting fuel into the cavity in generally rather thin fan shape. The cavity comprises side walls deflected so that fuel can generally pass near the ignition plug. A plurality of deflection guiding projected parts 22 deflecting fuel in lateral direction are provided in the cavity.

SOLUTION: An exhaust system of the internal combustion engine 1 comprises branch passages 51 for branching exhaust discharged from the engine 1, a storage reduction type NOx catalyst 52 provided for every branch passage 51, a confluent passage 53 for joining exhaust flowing in each branch passage 51 and an oxidation catalyst 54 which is provided in the confluent passage 53 and promotes oxidation purification of the unburned material in exhaust. An electronic control unit 30 independently controls each fuel adding operation by a reducing agent addition nozzle provided in each branch passage 51 and differentiates an air-fuel ratio of exhaust flowing into the NOx catalyst 52 for every branch passage.

SOLUTION: This device is characterized by comprising a NOX catalyst 17a provided in an exhaust passage connected with an exhaust downstream side of a multicylinder internal combustion engine 1 capable of performing lean combustion, a reducing agent adding means 19 provided in the exhaust passage on the upstream side of the NOX catalyst 17a to add the reducing agent, and a pressure correction means for correcting adding pressure of the reducing agent according to the operating state of a vehicle, and by controlling the addition of the reducing agent at the adding pressure corrected by the pressure correction means.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively carry out NOx reduction purification and the process of recovery from SOx poisoning by using a means for promoting evaporation of a reducing agent for use in NOx reduction purification using a NOx absorber, when the reducing agent and fuel for the process of recovery from SOx positioning adhere to exhaust ports, or for preventing their adhesion. SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device includes an occlusion reduction type NOx catalyst 17 provided in an exhaust pipe 16 for absorbing NOx in exhaust gas flowing in the exhaust pipe 16; a fuel adding nozzle 19 for adding fuel to the NOx catalyst 17; an ECU 9 serving as a fuel addition determining means for determining whether or not the addition of the fuel by the nozzle 19 is required; and an evaporation promoting means for promoting the evaporation of the added fuel. Upon the necessity of fuel addition being recognized by the ECU 9 serving as the fuel addition determining means, the nozzle 19 is actuated to effect the addition of fuel to the NOx catalyst 17 as evaporation of the added fuel is promoted by the ECU 9 serving also as the fuel evaporation promoting means.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of bore flashing due to additional fuel injection. SOLUTION: A cylinder fuel injection valve 111 of each of cylinders is controlled by an electronic control unit(ECU) 30 of a diesel engine 1. An exhaust air-fuel ratio is made less than a stocchiometric air-fuel ratio by carrying out additional fuel injection to an expansion stroke or to an exhaust stroke in addition to main fuel injection from the cylinder fuel injection valve when releasing NOx absorbed from a NOx occluding reducing catalyst 70 arranged in an exhaust passage 3 by the ECU. Additional fuel injection is carried out once for every one cylinder stroke cycle in each of cylinders, the number of cycles to carry out additional fuel injection continuously with the one cylinder is limited to the number not to cause bore flashing, and a term of period to stop additional fuel injection for a period of time to sufficiently recover lubricating oil film thickness of a wall surface in the cylinder until following additional fuel injection is started after the additional fuel injection is continuously carried out is provided.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a negative pressure controller of an internal combustion engine capable of supplying sufficient negative pressure to a brake booster without increasing a load on the internal combustion engine even in the internal combustion engine run stationarily under the suction pipe pressure approximate to the atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION: A brake booster 17 is connected to a surge tank 14 by a connecting piping 18. A control section 19 not only determines the opening of a throttle valve 15 corresponding to the running condition, but also closes the throttle valve, generate negative pressure in the surge tank and maintain the function of the brake booster when a pressure sensor detects that pressure for operating the brake booster approaches the atmospheric pressure. Further, in an internal combustion engine carrying out fuel injection for stratified combustion during low load running, the fuel injection is altered to one for uniform combustion in closing the throttle value.

A fuel injection valve 2 injects misty fuel to the first wall surface section side of the combustion chamber.

CONSTITUTION:A catalyzer warming device for an internal combustion engine has a combustible supply means 6 to supply combustibles near an ignition plug 5 when catalyzer temperature is below fixed value and an ignition control means to control the ignition plug 5 so that the combustibles may be ignited when they are supplied near the ignition plug, and is equipped with an air-fuel ratio control means to control the air-fuel ratio in an engine combustion chamber so as to be a fixed air-fuel ratio being leaner than a theoretical air-fuel ratio when the combustibles are supplied near the ignition plug 5 and a combustible supply quantity control means 7 to control the combustible supply means so as to increase the supply quantity per unit time of the combustible in direct proportin to engine speed.
