    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an oil compsn. for an automatic transmission, which little causes lowering in viscosity due to mechanical shear during its use, by adding a low-molecular olefin (co)polymer and a methacrylate ester to a lubricating base oil. CONSTITUTION:1-15wt% (co)polymer (average MW: 1000-10000) of a 2-10C monoolefin (e.g. polypropylene or polyisobutylene) and 1-5wt% copolymer (average MW: 5000-50000) of an ester derived from a 1-18C satd. aliph. monohydric alcohol and methacrylic acid (e.g. multi-component copolymer of methyl methacrylate or pentyl methacrylate) are blended with a lubricating base oil having a viscosity of 1.5-5cSt at 100 deg.C (e.g. mineral oil, oligomer of decene-1 or polyol ester).
