PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus where a covering layer is prevented from being peeled off, the durability of a peeling member is improved, then, a good image is obtained over a long period, and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The peeling member 31 includes a peeling part 31a formed on the side of a nip part between a fixing roller and a pressure roller. The peeling part 31a includes a sheet-like base material 311, an intermediate layer 312 formed on the surface of the base material 311 and the covering layer 313 formed on the surface of the intermediate layer 312. The edge part 310 of the leading end (end part on nip side) of the base material 311 is formed to a round shape. Thus, the intermediate layer 312 and the covering layer 313 successively formed on the edge part 310 are also formed to the round shape, further, the layer thickness is made uniform.
