Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently purify exhaust gas taking account of the variation due to temperature in the NOx absorbing capacity of a NOx absorbent. CONSTITUTION:NOx absorbent units 5a are connected in parallel in the exhaust passage 3 of an internal combustion engine 1, and the exhaust gas is alternately changed over by respective exhaust changeover valves 2, 22, so that the NOx absorbent units 5a are alternately reproduced. The exhaust temperatures passing through the NOx absorbent units are detected by exhaust temperature sensors 7a, 7b, and an engine control unit (ECU) 20 calculates an optimum absorbing time based on the variation due to temperature in the NOx absorbing capacity of the NOx absorbent, and changes over the respective exhaust changeover valves in accordance with the calculated absorbing time.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an exhaust air purification device for diesel engine superior in control accuracy of electric equipment for an electric heater or an electric air pump. CONSTITUTION:A filter 5 is provided in the exhaust system of a diesel engine 1 and an electric heater 6 is arranged on the end of the filter 5. A semi- conductive switching element 12 is arranged on the way to the power supply circuit of the electric heater 6 and the electric heater 6 is energized by outputting duty signal to the element 12 so that perticulates caught in the filter 5 are burned and the filter is regenerated. And voltage detection lines are provided on both sides of the electric heater 6 in the power supply line of the electric heater 6 and samplers 20, 21 are provided on the way to the lines. The samplers 20, 21 are closed at electric heater energizing timing by duty signals, voltage applied on the electric heater 6 at that time is detected, and the duty signals are so controlled as to become supply electric power to the target electric heater 6.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To shorten the regenerating time of an absorbent and maintain high NOx absorbing capacity by disposing two NOx absorbents of small capacity in series upstream of an exhaust passage, and supplying a reducing agent in such a way that the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust to the upstream absorbent is on the rich side while adjusting the exhaust to the downstream absorbent in such a way as to be on the lean side. CONSTITUTION:A reducing agent feeder 3 is connected to the exhaust pipe 12 of an engine, and in consecutive order toward the lower reaches, an upstream NOx absorbent 1A is provided, a secondary air feeder 4 is connected, a downstream Nox absorbent 1B is provided, and an oxygen concentration sensor 5 and an exhaust gas temperature sensor 6 are connected. The upstream NOx absorbent 1A is to be of relatively small capacity, and NOx is removed by the NOx absorbents 1A, 1B. At the regenerating time, the excessive reducing agent is supplied to the upstream NOx absorbent 1A to obtain a rich atmosphere so as to regenerate the upstream Nox absorbent 1A of small capacity in a short time. The excessive reducing agent flowing downstream is completely absorbed since the downstream NOx absorbent 1B is in a relatively lean atmosphere, and the downstream NOx absorbent 1B is regenerated. The NOx absorbing capacity can be thus kept always high.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine allowing the regeneration of an NOx absorbent to be completed efficiently in a short time and the consumption of a reducing agent to be reduced. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust flow flowing into an NOx absorbent 5 is reduced by an exhaust shutter valve 6 provided at the exhaust passage 3 of an engine, and a reducing agent is supplied from a reducing agent feeder 11 to perform the regeneration of the NOx absorbent 5. Prior to the start of regeneration, the reducing agent is supplied while holding the opening of the exhaust shutter valve 6 larger than that at the time of regeneration. The combustion of the reducing agent on the NOx absorbent 5 is thereby accelerated to raise the temperature of the NOx absorbent 5.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To perfectly combust combustible gaseous material in combustion gas by arranging a catalyst in an exhaust pipe in an exhaust particulate removing device for a diesel engine wherein a filter used for capturing particulates in exhaust gas is regenerated at a specified time, and regeneration combustion gas is discharged through an exclusive discharge pipe. CONSTITUTION:In a first phase, a catalyst CA is arranged on an outlet side of an exclusive discharge pipe 8 for combustion gas, while a means H is provided for activating while heating the catalyst CA at the time of regenerating a filter 5A or 5B. Thus, the catalyst CA is activated for perfectly combusting the combustible gaseous material. In a second phase, the regeneration gas is suctioned by means of an air pump 9 for supplying, and the combustion gas is discharged through the air pump 9. Catalyst is laminated on the surfaces of the impeller inside the pump 9.

A secondary air supply device 11 composed of a motor driven pump 11a, a control valve 11b and the like is connected to the exhaust passage, upstream of the NOx absorbent 5, and accordingly, the motor driven air pump 11a and the control valve 11b are controlled so as to perform feed-back control of the opening degree of the valve 11b, thereby it is possible to always maintain the density of the oxygen in exhaust gas flowing into the NOx absorbent 5 during NOx absorbing operation, in a range such that the absorbing function of the NOx absorbent 5 can be enhanced, irrespective of an air-fuel ratio under engine operation.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To supress generation of smoke by detecting a capturing rate of particulates and its temporal fluctuation, and correcting an operation condition when the temporal fluctuation rate is specified value or more. CONSTITUTION:A capturing rate detection means A is provided on an exhaust particulate removing device of a diesel engine for detecting a particulate rate captured in a filter. Temporal fluctuation of the capturing rate is detected by a capturing rate fluctuation detection means B. In case that the temporal fluctuation rate is a specified value or more, an operation condition of the engine is corrected so as to suppress the generation of smoke by an operation condition correction means C. The particulate capturing rate per unit time is adjusted in the filter which is not in regeneration process, so as to be the value suitable for regeneration. The regeneration is thus carried out with certainty, and the frequency of regeneration is reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To accurately judge a regeneration timing of a filter by providing pressure sensors to detect gas flow condition after regeneration of the filter and a control circuit to judge the regeneration timing of the filter. CONSTITUTION:Pressure introducing pipes 14 and 15 are respectively connected to the exhaust pipe 2 on the upper stream and that on the lower stream of a filter 1 as means to detect gas flow condition after regeneration of the filter 1. A first pressure sensor 16 and a second pressure sensor 17 are provided for detecting the exhaust pressure in this exhaust pipe territory. Analog signals from the first pressure sensor 16 and the second pressure sensor 17, besides an analog signal from an exhaust temperature sensor 22 provided on the upper stream side of the filter 1 and detecting exhaust temperature Th, and the like are input to the input side of a control circuit 6a. In the control circuit 6, pressure difference across the filter in the standard operating condition is computed, and the filter regeneration timing is judged by whether the pressure difference reaches a prescribed value or not. In this way, the regeneration timing of the filter 1 can be accurately judged.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to uniformly regenerate the whole of a filter by forming a heater provided near the filter of plural heater segments, and turning on the heater segments in order at the time of their regenerating, and then renewing the heater segment to be turned on lastly. CONSTITUTION:A filter 15 to collect particulate fuel in exhaust gas is provided in an enlarged diameter part 14 formed on the middle of an exhaust pipe 13. An electric heater 41 for regenerating the filter is provided at an end part on the upstream side of the filter 15, and composed of plural (six in the figure) heater segments 41a-41f being fan-shaped centering around the center of a filter end face. At the time of electric control in regenerating the filter 15, the heater segments are separately turned on in order through a control circuit 51, and controlled to renew the heater segment to be turned on lastly at every regenerating. Thus the occurrence of clogging at a specific portion and the dissolving loss of the filter 15 can be prevented.
