Abstract: The present invention concerns a high-temperature lubricant for the hot shaping of high-grade and carbon steels, which has a content of graphite, organic blowing agent and inorganic separation agent, and the use thereof. In order to provide a high-temperature lubricant which can be used for a wide range of steel qualities for different wall thicknesses to be rolled and stretching effects and which is moreover stable in respect of temperature, provides constant rolling results upon a change in the wall thickness and/or the quality of steel and does not lead to unwanted cementation of the rolled material,za the high-temperature lubricant according to the invention contains at least the following constituents in percent by weight with respect to the solids content: (a) 40 to 90% by weight graphite, (b) 2 to 50% by weight organic blowing agent, and (c) 5 to 50% by weight inorganic separation agent, wherein the organic blowing agent (b) is selected from the group consisting of melamine, melam, melem, melon, phosphate salts and polyphosphate salts of the aforesaid compounds with phosphate chain lengths in the region of n=1 to 1000, reaction products and adducts of the aforesaid compounds with cyanuric acid or isocyanuric acid, and mixtures of the aforesaid, and the inorganic separation agent (c) is a sheet silicate or a mixture of sheet silicates.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: prior art methods seek only to minimize use amounts of lubricant compositions and do not teach methods that are effective to provide different values for the coefficient of friction at different locations.SOLUTION: The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a lubricant composition comprising a water-miscible silicone material having a silicone emulsion wherein the silicone emulsion contains less than 500 ppm of a triethanolamine salts of alkyl benzene sulfonic acid compounds.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dry film lubricant coatings by using a silicone resin binder, either as an aqueous emulsion or in a solvent-based system, to fix an alkaline earth metal fluoride to a substrate.SOLUTION: The compositions used to apply the coatings may also include relatively minor amounts of xylene, ammonium benzoate, a wetting agent, and/or a porosity-inducing agent, although none of those additives remains in the cured coating. Multi-layer dry film lubricant coatings are also disclosed, with the multi-layer coating having a basecoat layer as described above, and a topcoat layer made of a layer-lattice solid such as graphite or molybdenum disulfide, and a silicone resin, aluminum phosphate or an alkali metal silicate binder.

Abstract: According to the invention there is provided a liquid friction control composition characterized as either having a high and positive friction characteristic or a low and neutral friction characteristic, comprising a retentivity agent. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components such as a solid lubricant, a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems.

Abstract: A metal-working water or a metal-working composition which has excellent cooling and lubricating properties and does not exert a harmful influence on the environment. A metal-working water containing sodium ion and one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of fluoride ion, hydrogencarbonate ion and silicon and being adjusted to pH 6.0 to pH 10 can be used as a substitute for a conventional cutting oil. A metal-working composition including a metal-working water with such additive as a rust-preventive agent and being adjusted to pH 6.0 to pH 10 can also be used.
