PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for improving a nanoparticle composition and a manufacturing method and a utility method of the same.SOLUTION: The disclosed composition includes solid lubricant nanoparticles and an organic medium. Moreover, nanoparticles including a laminarly formed material are also disclosed. A method for manufacturing nanoparticles by finely pulverizing a laminarly formed material is also provided. Moreover, a method for manufacturing a lubricant is also provided, whereas this method includes a step of forming nanoparticles by finely pulverizing a laminarly formed material and a step of forming a lubricant by blending the nanoparticles with a base.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding bearing having performance equal to or more than that of a rolling bearing, the rolling bearing used for a scroll compressor loaded on an automobile being replaced by the sliding bearing.SOLUTION: In this sliding bearing, a sliding layer is formed by burning on a back metal thereof. The sliding layer is made of 5-60 wt.% graphite, average radius of which is 5-50 μm, degree of graphitization of which is 0.6 or more, in which an average shape coefficient (Y) defined as in the following of particles except fine particles each having a radius of 0.5 times or less of the average radius is 1-4, and which includes particles having a shape coefficient (Y) within a range (Y)=1-1.5 at 70% or more in the ratio of the number, and polyimide resin and/or polyamideimide resin as residues.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-rolling lubricant good in workability and excellent in seizure resistance and to provide a method for surface-treating a mandrel bar for the production of hot-rolled seamless pipes using the lubricant. SOLUTION: A hot rolling tool lubricant prepared by dispersing or dissolving an oxide-type layered compound such as potassium tetrasilicon mica, sodium tetrasilicon mica, vermiculite, or bentonite, a boric acid compound such as boric acid, potassium borate, or sodium borate, and graphite in water, wherein the mixing ratio of the oxide-type layered compound to the boric acid compound is 10:90 to 70:30 by mass ratio, and the content of the graphite is 1.0-4.5%. When the lubricant is applied to the surface of a mandrel bar during mandrel mill drawing, the lubricant forms a lubricating film on the bar surface and can exhibit excellent seizure resistance. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide machining oil for brittle materials, the slurry of which can be supplied sufficiently to a machining space and which includes excellent machining properties. SOLUTION: The machining oil for brittle materials is obtained by blending (a) base oil, (b) a nonionic surfactant, which is an alkylene oxide adduct of polyhydric (dihydric to hexahydric) alcohol and includes 2-50 molar number of the added alkylene oxide, and/or another nonionic surfactant, which is a derivative of the alkylene oxide adduct of polyhydric (dihydric to hexahydric) alcohol and includes 2-50 molar number of the added alkylene oxide, and (c) bentonite.
