Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the functional deterioration of a filter over a long period by completely removing a particle-like substance accumulated in the filter while restraining the thermal deterioration of the particulate filter. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device is provided with the filter 20 for carrying a catalyst, and a filter temperature raising means 35 for raising a temperature of the filter. The filter temperature raising means 35 reduces a quantity of the particle-like substance by combustion by raising the temperature of the filter 20 up to a first prescribed temperature when a first prescribed condition is realized, raises the temperature of the filter 20 to a second prescribed temperature higher than the first prescribed temperature when a second prescribed condition is realized, and lengthens an interval for raising the temperature up to the second prescribed temperature more than the first temperature.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the deterioration of performance due to secular changes, etc., of a reduction agent supplying mechanism that feeds reduction agent to a lean NOX catalyst provided on the exhaust gas passage of an internal combustion engine, and to prevent unnecessary consumption of the reduction agent. SOLUTION: The present invention refers to an exhaust gas cleaning device for an internal combustion engine which is equipped with a NOX catalyst 20 provided on the exhaust gas passage of a lean-burn combustion engine 1 and a reduction agent supplying mechanism 28 that feeds reduction agent to the NOX catalyst, the exhaust gas cleaning device which has a characteristic of comprising a feedback control means 35 feedback-controlling the supply amount of the reduction agent so as to make the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas that actually flows into the NOX catalyst into a prescribed air-fuel ratio, and a reduction agent supply stopping means 35 that stops feeding of reduction agent by the reduction agent supplying mechanism 28 when the correction amount by the feedback control means 35 exceeds a prescribed threshold value.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine provided with a function for accurately diagnosing and disposing of abnormality generated in the exhaust emission control device maintaining a catalyst purifying function by adding the reducing agent to the reduction catalyst provided in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device for an engine 100 adds the fuel functioning as the reducing agent to the upstream of the NOx catalyst 41 of an exhaust system 40. An ECU 80 closes a cutoff valve 14 under the condition that a sufficiently high fuel pressure is secured in the upstream of a metering valve 16 in an addition fuel passage P2 to seal the inside of the addition fuel passage P2 over from the cutoff valve 14 to a fuel addition nozzle 17. Continuously, the ECU 80 opens the metering valve 16, and diagnoses existence and degree of the generation of various abnormality and performs the appropriate disposition on the basis of the transition condition of the fuel pressure in a sealed space grasped on the basis of the detecting signal of a fuel pressure sensor 71.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure sensing device for a reducing agent supply device for supplying reducing agent to an exhaust gas purifying catalyst, whereby it is practicable to suppress deterioration of the exhaust emission resulting from a leak of the reducing agent, breakage of the catalyst, etc., by establishing a technique to sense the leak of reducing agent. SOLUTION: The failure sensing device of the reducing agent supply device is equipped with an exhaust gas purifying catalyst installed in the exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine for purifying the detrimental gas components in the exhaust gas under existence of reducing agent, a reducing agent supplying mechanism to supply the reducing agent to the portion of exhaust passage located upstream of the catalyst, a pressure sensing means to sense the pressure of reducing agent in the supplying mechanism, and a failure judging means to judge any failure in the supplying mechanism on the basis of the sensed pressure of the reducing agent.

SOLUTION: When fuel injection to the exhaust system 40 of a Diesel engine 1 is to be executed, an electronic control device (ECU) 80 to perform the operational control of the engine 1 senses or presumes the rate of exhaust flow (or flow velocity), exhaust gas temperature and the inner wall temperature of the exhaust passage, and on the basis of obtained parameters, presumes the evaporating amount (amount turned into particulates) of the fuel supplied in injection from a fuel adding nozzle 17, and the control of deciding the injection amount and timing is conducted with the obtained data taken into account.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic processing device of a reducing agent supply device to add a reducing agent to NOx catalyst installed on the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, capable of properly judging various types of failures discriminatively. SOLUTION: The fuel supply system (reducing agent supply device) 10 of the engine 1 is composed of a supply pump 11, common rail 12, fuel injection valve 13, shutoff valve 14, governor valve 16, fuel adding nozzle 17, an engine fuel passage P1 and added fuel passage P2. An ECU 80 executes addition of the fuel by feeding the instruction current to the governor valve 16. Over the whole period of this fuel adding, the exhaust gas air-fuel ratio A/F is monitored continuously to grasp the transition form of A/F. From the given transition form of A/F, discriminative judgement is made for any failure in various parts of the fuel supply system (reducing agent supply device) 10.

SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device of the internal combustion engine is composed of a NOX catalyst 17 installed in the exhaust passage of the engine able to make lean combustion and emitting the absorbed NOX and reducing with the reducing agent, a reducing agent supplying means 19 installed in the exhaust passage upstream of the catalyst 17, a load sensing means to sense the load of the engine 1, and a reducing agent addition control means to control the period of reducing agent addition and intervals of addition on the basis of the load of the engine 1. The period of reducing agent addition and intervals are controlled while such factors are taken into account as the degree of reducing agent attachment to the wall surface inside the exhaust passage depending upon the flow speed and temperature of the exhaust gas in the engine 1, and thereby a sufficient quantity of reducing agent is supplied to the side with NOX catalyst irrespective of the operating situation.

SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device of the internal combustion engine is composed of an NOX catalyst 17, a fuel adding means 19 installed in the exhaust passage 16 upstream of the NOX catalyst 17, an adding amount calculating means to calculate the amount of fuel addition from the actual air-fuel ratio, amount of air suction and the temperature of the gas containing catalyst, a depth calculating means to calculate the rich depth when the fuel according to the calculation is added to the NOX catalyst 17, and a time calculating means to calculate from the given rich state the time required from the air-fuel ratio having changed into the lean state till attaining the lean state having a value obtained by multiplying the rich depth by a certain rate. The fuel addition at the next time is controlled on the basis of the data given by an adding amount correcting means to calculate the next fuel adding amount from the rich depth and time and an interval calculating means to calculate the fuel adding interval till fuel addition at the next time on the basis of the given rich depth.

SOLUTION: A particulate filter DPF 43 and an exhaust throttle valve 37 for DPF regeneration are arranged in an exhaust passage 3 of an engine 1, and an EGR valve 23 to adjust EGR gas quantity is arranged on an EGR passage 33 of the engine. An electronic control unit ECU 30 of the engine feed-back- controls EGR valve opening so that intake air quantity detected by an air flow meter 25 comes to be target intake air quantity specified in accordance with an engine driving state. The ECU detects existence of abnormality of the exhaust throttle valve in accordance with variation of the EGR valve opening before and after operation when opening or closing valve operation of the exhaust throttle valve is carried out when feed-back control of the EGR valve opening is carried out.

SOLUTION: The EGR gas cooling device is provided with cooling means for carrying out heat exchange between the EGR gas and the cooling water, means for detecting a temperature of the cooling water, cooling water circulation control means for circulating the cooling water to the cooling means when the temperature of the cooling water is a prescribed temperature or more, and for stopping circulation of the cooling water toward the cooling means when the temperature of the cooling water is less than the prescribed temperature, and means for forcibly circulating the cooling water to the cooling means when it is predicted that the temperature of exhaust delivered from an internal combustion engine is raised at prescribed speed or more in the case where the temperature of the cooling water is less than the prescribed temperature.
