A displacement amount of when the standby sheet is overlapped on the conveyed sheet is set so that the displacement amount of the sheet whose number of pull-in times into the branch passage is greater is reduced more, thus the displacement amount between the sheets becomes a predetermined displacement amount when the standby sheet is overlapped on the last conveyed sheet and conveyed to an intermediate processing tray 138.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay device in which a post-processing device of a different communication method can be connected to an image formation device so that a necessary sheet interval for the post-processing device is ensured, and an image formation system including the relay device.SOLUTION: A relay device 30 is connected between an image formation device 10 which ejects a sheet at a timing corresponding to sheet interval information acquired by communicating with a downstream post-processing device via a first communication method, in which sheet information of a sheet for image formation is sent to the downstream post-processing device and sheet interval information indicating a necessary sheet interval for the post-processing device is received as a response from the post-processing device, and a second post-processing device 50 which is connected downstream thereof and communicates with it via a second communication method. The relay device has a storage part which preliminarily stores sheet interval information necessary for the second post-processing device, and, when sheet information from the image formation device is received, determines sheet interval information for the second post-processing device from the sheet information and the stored information in the storage part to send to the image formation device.

Layout processing for image data in a print order is performed for the respective document data groups after division, and layout processing of image data corresponding to the insertion paper is performed according to designation of the insertion position.

SOLUTION: Sheet bundles St formed in a handling tray 213 are overlapped with each other face to face by turning a band sheet Bs to a tip side in a process for pinching the sheet bundle St and lowering inside a sheet bundle conveying path 294 with a sheet bundle moving mechanism 220. The band sheet Bs is stitched by a machine in several positions and cut to a required length by a cutter 235. Both ends of the band sheet Bs are integrally stitched with the sheet bundle St, combining with stitching the sheet bundle St, by a stapler body 240.
