    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for carrying out an oxidation treatment of toluene, which is first excellent in reaction efficiency and second, simply and easily achievable. SOLUTION: The apparatus 2 and the method of carrying out an oxidation treatment employ a microreactor 1 including a micro flow path 3, a photocatalyst 4, and an ultraviolet irradiation means 5. The photocatalyst 4 exhibits an oxidative power when irradiated with ultraviolet rays. In the micro flow path 3, toluene fed thereinto by pressure is first oxidized to form a benzyl cation, subsequently the benzyl cation moves into water injected midway by pressure thereinto to react with water to form benzyl alcohol, and subsequently, the resulting benzyl alcohol is oxidized to form benzaldehyde. The oxidation is carried out on an interface 17 between a laminar flow layer 14 of toluene and the photocatalyst 4, and on an interface 18 between a laminar flow layer 15 of water and the photocatalyst 4, by molecular diffusion. The transference into water and the reaction with water of the benzyl cation are carried out on an interface 16 between the toluene layer 14 and the water layer 15, by molecular diffusion.
