    Abstract: PURPOSE:To accurately judge the degradation of catalytic converter rhodium when an instrumentation time is less than a predetermined time by measuring a time from when an internal combustion engine is shifted to rich operation condition to when the output of an air/fuel ratio sensor at the down stream side of the catalytic converter is reversed to rich condition. CONSTITUTION:Respective air/fuel ratio sensors c, d are provided at the upper and down stream sides of catalytic converter rhodium b provided at the exhaust passage a of an internal combustion engine and the air/fuel ratio of the internal combustion engine is adjusted by a means e according to those respective detected results. At this time, reverse between the lean and rich condition of the output of the down stream side air/fuel ratio sensor d is judged by a means (f). The operation condition of the internal combustion engine is judged by a means g that theoretical air/fuel ratio operation condition is shifted to rich operation condition. Further, a time from the shift to when the output of the down stream side air/fuel ratio sensor d is reversed from lean condition to rich condition is measured by a means h. When the measured time is less than a predetermined time, the degradation of the catalytic inverter rhodium b is judged by a means t.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the durability, fuel consumption and output property of an engine by providing an ignition timing offsetting means for changing the offset ignition timing of cylinders on the basis of knocking condition and changing condition of knocking judgement. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder in which the knocking condition is calculated to be lower than a predetermined one by a knocking condition calculating means MC and further the knocking judgement is considered lower than a predetermined one by a knocking judging means MD is first offset advanced a predetermined value by an ignition timing offsetting means MF. On the basis of the knocking condition and changing condition of knocking judgement due to the offset advance is altered the offset advance amount of said cylinder, while the ignition timing of cylinder provided with a knocking sensor MB is controlled by an ignition timing controlling means ME. Thus, the cylinder in which S/N ratio is degraded becomes difficult to generate knocking compared with other cylinders so that the durability, fuel consumption and output property of an engine are improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the hunting and to improve the followability of supercharge pressure control by bringing a supercharger into a low supercharge pressure condition when the knocking is occurring while bringing the supercharger into a high supercharge pressure condition when the knocking is not occurring. CONSTITUTION:Under a high supercharge pressure condition where the engine load Q/N is higher than a predetermined level, a solenoid valve 28 is turned on to perform the delay angle correction based upon a first referential level (high correction level). Under a low supercharge pressure condition where the engine load is lower than the predetermined level, the solenoid valve 28 is turned off to perform the delay angle correcting based upon a second referential level (low correction level). If the delay angle correction levels are exceeding over a referential level over more than two rotation zones, it is decided that the octane value of fuel is low and the solenoid valve 28 is turned off. If said levels are lower than the referential level, it is decided that the octane value of fuel is high and the solenoid valve 28 is turned on.

CONSTITUTION:An EGR control valve 14 is arranged inside an EGR passage 12 which connects an exhaust manifold 6 to a surge tank 7. When an engine cooling water temperature becomes higher than a set temperature, a shut-off valve 35 is opened so as to start supply of EGR gas. A temperature sensor 37 for detecting the temperature inside the EGR passage 12 is arranged inside the EGR passage 12. When a difference between the temperature inside the EGR passage 12 and the engine cooling water temperature is less than a set value at the time of starting the engine, when the cooling water temperature of the engine is slightly lower than a set temperature and when the temperature inside the EGR passage 12 is higher than the set temperature, it is judged some trouble is generated in an EGR controller 13.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To smooth the rotation of an engine at the time of fuel-cut reset by controlling the fuel injection so as to be increased for a prescribed time after the reset of fuel cut as compared with the time light fuel is detected, when heavy fuel is detected, on the basis of the detecting signal of a fuel prop erty detecting means. CONSTITUTION:When a throttle valve 17 is fully open and the rotating speed of an internal combustion engine 11 is higher than the cut rotating speed, a fuel injection control means 16 cuts the fuel injection by means of a fuel injec tion valve 12; and when the rotating speed of the engine becomes less than the reset rotating speed, or when the variation per unit time of rotating speed of the engine drops less than a prescribed value, the fuel injection cut is re leased. In this case, if a fuel property detecting means 18 detects that the fuel 15 is a heavy fuel abundant in high boiling-point constituents, an injection increasing means 19 controls the fuel injection control means 16 so that the fuel injection after fuel-cut reset is increased as compared with the time light fuel is detected. Thus, the rotation of the engine at the time of fuel-cut reset can be smoothed, and engine stall can be previously prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the acceleration property responding to the accumulation of deposit by computing the period to make the mixture gas rich when the fuel feeding is stopped in a deceleration operation, and controlling to increase the injection fuel amount in an acceleration operation responding to the computed result. CONSTITUTION:Depending on the output of an oxygen density detector 19 provided in an engine exhaust passage A, the fuel amount injected from a fuel injection valve 12 is controlled by a device B to make the mixture gas fed into an engine cylinder in an object air-fuel ratio. And, in a deceleration operation, the fuel feeding is cut by a device C. Furthermore, depending on the output signal of the oxygen density detector 19, the period in which the mixture gas is made rich during the time the fuel is cut by the device C is computed by a device D. And the increase of the injection fuel amount in the acceleration operation is controlled by a device E depending on the computed period of the rich mixture gas. Consequently, the mixture gas is maintained at the object air-fuel ratio even in an acceleration operation, responding to the accumulation of deposit.

At time of accelerating drive, a period when the mixture comes to leanness or richness, or integral times over this period is stored in memory by a means C as a lean-rich judging period. In addition, an accelerating driving state is detected by a means D, while a deviation between lean time and rich time of the mixture is calculated by a means E as long as this lean-rich judging period on the basis of each output signal out of this means D and the oxygen density detector 19. When the lean time is longer than the rich time and the deviation has exceeded the setting value, the fuel injection quantity is increased by a means F.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To get rid of wrong discrimination of catalytic degradation by measuring a discharging time of O2 from tree way catalyst at a time of forced conversion to the state of a rich or theoretical air fuel ratio so as to indirectly measure the maximum storage quantity of O2 of the three way catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An air fuel ratio adjusting means A adjusts an air fuel ratio of an engine according to outputs V1, V2 of air fuel ratio sensors on the upstream and downstream sides of three way catalyst CCRO. A time measuring means B measures a time TA since it is judged that an operating state has transited from a lean operating state to a rich or theoretical air fuel ratio operating stage by a rich/lean operation state transition discriminating means C until it is discriminated that the output V2 of the air fuel ratio sensor on the downstream side has reversed from the lean to the rich by a repeat discriminating means D. And a catalytic degradation discriminating means E discriminates that the tree way catalyst has dagraded when the measured discharging time TA of O2 from the three way catalyst is shorter than a fixed time. Thus it is possible to discriminate the degradation of the three way catalyst precisely.

Further, a renewal forbidding means MF is provided for forbidding the renewal of the memory of the maximum delay angle amount by the correction amount learning means MC at the time a transient operation period detection means ME detects the transient operation period of the engine MA.

CONSTITUTION:During operation of an internal combustion engine, in the case of a fuel injection executing means M6 which inputs each output signal of a synchronous injection request means M2, synchronous injection amount calculating means M3 and an asynchronous injection request means M4, when synchronous or asynchronous injection is requested, a fuel injection valve M5 is controlled to be opened for the time in accordance with a synchronous injection amount or an asynchronous injection amount. While the valve is in opening, when fuel injection is requested, the fuel injection valve M5 extends its opening time for the time in accordance with an injection amount for the request. Here counting the cycle of synchronous injection by a time counting means M7, when the synchronous or asynchronous injection is requested, the valve opening time is limited by a limiting means M8 in a manner wherein the valve opening time thereafter decreases to at least this counted time or less.
