PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting persistence of a deodorizing effect of a chewing gum composition after chewed and the chewing gum composition having excellent persistence of the deodorizing effect after chewed.SOLUTION: The method for adjusting persistence of the deodorizing effect of the chewing gum composition after chewed comprises a step of adjusting a ratio of the amount of the tannin-containing extract to be blended to that of the biphenyl compound-containing extract to be blended in the chewing gum composition containing the biphenyl compound-containing extract and the tannin-containing extract. The chewing gum composition contains the biphenyl compound-containing extract and the tannin-containing extract and has a mass ratio more than 5.0 of the amount of the tannin-containing extract to be blended to that of the biphenyl compound-containing extract to be blended.

The solid phase includes a plurality of solid fine particles, and the liquid phase includes the mixture of a liquid and a diffusion control material. The confectionery material is preferably dough-like. The dough-like confectionery material is an effective substitute for a panned coating, being imparted to an edible base material of a candy or a chewing gum so as to form a layered sugar confectionery.
