PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique in relation to a low molecular weight lower polylactic acid produced by condensation polymerization and that produced by distillation as a natural raw material, which have no side effect caused by chemical synthetics and chemical agents, and is not accumulated in a human body, and have sustainable functionality of sterilization, a fungicidal, an antimicrobial property, an antifungal property, rot proofness, pH control, and an antioxidation property, which replace environmental hazardous materials. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the low molecular weight lower polylactic acid includes: a step (1) to obtain the low molecular weight lower polylactic acid and a lactic acid oligomer via cyclic and ring-opening condensation polymerization by stepwise reducing pressure and raising temperature of a fermentation-L-lactic acid in an inert gas atmosphere, and further dehydrating or raising temperature; and a step (2) to recover cyclic and ring-opening low molecular weight lower polylactic acid separated by dehydration and distilled, wherein dilution of the low molecular weight lower polylactic acid liquid results in: functionality (3) of sterilization, a fungicidal, an antimicrobial property, an antifungal property, rot proofness and the antioxidation property of the undiluted and diluted liquids; a defense reaction (4) of the polylactic acid against viruses; and a working range and concentration (5) of dilution of the condensation polymerization polylactic acid. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for production by which the content of a cyclic lactic oligomer contained in a cyclopolymerized lactic acid is raised without requiring a complicated apparatus and production process. SOLUTION: The method for production comprises the following steps. A dehydration condensation step (1) of decompressing and heating up L-lactic acid stepwise in an inert gas atmosphere and thereby obtaining a condensation liquid A having a cyclic type lactic acid oligomer and a chain type lactic acid oligomer formed by dehydration condensation and a lactic acid distillation liquid B comprising mainly the L-lactic acid, a mixing step (2) of mixing the condensation liquid A with the lactic acid distillation liquid B in a prescribed ratio, a cooling step (3) of cooling the resultant mixture C obtained in the mixing step and affording a gel-like substance D, a separation step (4) of adding a solvent dissolving the chain type lactic acid oligomer and L-lactic acid without dissolving the cyclic type lactic acid oligomer to the gel-like substance D, dissolving the substances soluble in the solvent and affording a precipitate E, and a recovering step (5) of recovering the precipitate E and providing a recovered substance G. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional food which includes cyclic polylactate having activating effect on mitochondria contained in cells at high purity and is easy to orally ingest, in view of problems wherein, while recently cyclic polylactate-containing functional foods are introduced with the expectation that aims and purposes of immune activation, functional recovery of each organ, autonomic adjustment, incretion adjustment, and the like can be satisfied by a single product, the cyclic polylactate has strong acid and bitter tastes giving strains in oral intake and making it desirable to mold the cyclic polylactate into a tablet shape, but tableting it is hard without addition of additives since the cyclic polylactate has high moisture absorbency, and the polylactate content tends to become low.SOLUTION: According to polymerization distribution analyses of the cyclic polylactate, 5% or more of cyclic chain-like polylactate out of the cyclic polylactate is contained while excepting the distribution quantity of a low-polymerization degree range with polymerization degrees of 2 to 3, whereby tableting can be attained at a minimum additive ratio, and a functional food which includes the cyclic polylactate having activating effect on mitochondria at high purity while reducing strains such as bitter and acid tastes in oral intake can be provided.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique enhancing safety as food by extracting a plant dye essence by an extraction method using a dehydration-concentrated lactic acid in place of ethanol. SOLUTION: The technique includes a dehydration-concentrating step (1) of obtaining an extract of plant dyes using, as an extraction solvent, a concentrated liquid having a dehydration-concentrated lactic acid and its oligomer by heating up L-lactic acid under reduced pressure gradually in an inert gas atmosphere, a mixing and extracting step (2) of mixing a plant with the dehydration-concentrated liquid, a separation step (3) of separating an extraction liquid obtained in the mixing and extracting step from a residue, an extraction liquid recovery step (4) of obtaining a supernatant liquid obtained by removing a precipitate of a dye extraction liquid obtained in the separation step, an extraction liquid powderizing step (5) of neutralizing the dye extraction liquid and obtaining a powder by freeze-drying, and a separated residue neutralization treatment (6) of neutralizing the separated residue by a sieve and allowing it to be reutilized.
