Abstract: Welding equipment includes a torch for irradiating a laser beam B, wire feeding means 2 for feeding a filler wire F, and tracking means 3 for controlling the moving tracks of the torch 1 and the wire feeding means 2 so as to make the moving tracks follow a welding line Y. The tracking means 3 has a contactor 30A provided so as to be advanceable/retractable for making contact with a joint object W resiliently. The torch and the wire feeding means 2 are moved so as to follow the welding line Y by touching the contactor 30A of the tracking means 3 resiliently to the joint object W while feeding the filler wire F to a welding portion and irradiating that portion with the laser beam B, thereby joining the joint objects W.

Abstract: A laser welding method for stacked workpieces according to the present invention, a laser irradiation diameter that is irradiated on a surface of one workpiece 1 among two stacked workpieces 1 and 2 is set such that a laser irradiation diameter B at a weld ending-edge portion is equal to or greater than approximately 1.5 times a laser irradiation diameter A at a weld starting-edge portion. Thus, at the weld ending-edge portion, the material is melted in a wider area compared to the conventional example, and therefore, the melted material is supplied to the center portion of the weld ending-edge portion while the weld ending-edge portion is solidifying. As a result, a depth of the recess at the weld ending-edge portion can be made shallow enough to guarantee the welding quality of each of the workpieces 1 and 2.
