CONSTITUTION:This method for producing 2-hydroxymethylmercaptobutyric acid is to bring 2-hydroxymethylmercaptobutyramide in liquid phase into contact with water in the presence of a heteropolyacid or its salts and hydrolyze the 2-hydroxymethylmercaptobutyramide. Since sulfuric acid is not used as a reactional component, a large amount of ammonium sulfate is not discharged. Ammonia formed as a by-product can be circulated for use as a reactional raw material.

SOLUTION: A carbonylation catalyst is produced e.g. by compounding l mol of a group Vlll metal source (e.g. tetrakistriphenylphosphineplatinum), 2-100 mol of a ligand (e.jg. triphenylphosphine) and 2-400 mol of an acid (e.g. methacrylic acid). An acetylene-type or allene-type unsaturated compound (e.g. propyne) is carbonylated with carbon monoxide at 10-250'C under atmospheric pressure to 150 atm in the presence of the catalyst while keeping the conversion of the unsaturated compound to ?9O%, preferdly S95%.

摘要: PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a highly pure carboxylic acid from the product of Koch reaction using sulfuric acid catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An olefin such as propene or an alcohol such as 2-propanol is reacted with carbon monoxide in the presence of sulfuric acid catalyst, and a carboxylic acid such as isobutyric acid is extracted with a solvent such as decane having a solubility parameter of from the mixture containing the sulfuric acid and the produced carboxylic acid. The carboxylic acid can also be obtained by extracting the mixed solution with a solvent having a higher boiling point than that of the carboxylic acid and subsequently distilling the extract solution. The carboxylic acid can further be recovered by extracting the mixture with an organic solvent and subsequently treating the extract solution with a weakly basic anion exchange resin.

摘要: PURPOSE: To carbonylate an acetylenic or olefinic unsaturated compd. by using a catalyst system having high stability and capable of keeping high catalytic activity over a long period of time. CONSTITUTION: A carbonylation catalyst system is constituted by containing a group VIII metal source (e.g. palladium, palladium chloride or the like), a ligand such as triphenylphosphine and an acid such as an alkylsulfonic acid supported on a carrier. An acetylenic or olefin unsaturated compd. and carbon monoxide are reacted in a liquid phase in the presence of the catalyst system and a carbonylated product is stably produced over a long period of time in a high conversion rate with high selectivity. Further, when a nuclephilic compd. having a separable hydrogen atom such as water, alcohol or carboxylic acid is reacted, an unsaturated or a saturated carboxylic acid or ester thereof is produced.
