摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer excellent in a calcium ion scavenging capacity and biodegradability as well and useful as a detergent builder or for a dispersant by copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid (salt) with acrylamide and reacting the copolymer with a benzoquinone. SOLUTION: An unsaturated carboxylic acid or a salt thereof represented by the formula (wherein X is H, an alkali metal, or an ammonium group; Y is H or COOX; and R is H or methyl) is copolymerized with acrylamide in the presence of a polymerization initiator prepared by combining hydrogen peroxide with at least one reducing agent selected from the group consisting of an iron ion, a copper ion, a zinc ion, a nickel ion, ascorbic acid, and saccharin, and the obtained copolymer is reacted with a benzoquinone to obtain an unsaturated carboxylic acid polymer having a number-average molecular weight of 500-1,000,000. It is desirable that the total of the copolymerized acrylamide and the copolymerized benzoquinone accounts for 0.5-20 wt.% of the total weight of the copolymer.

摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid detergent composition that has a calcium-capturing ability, shows excellent compatibility to surfactants and is useful for fibrous products by using a specific unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer and a surfactant. SOLUTION: The objective liquid detergent composition comprises (A) an unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer bearing the recurring units of formula I (X is H, an alkali metal atom, ammonium; Y is H, COOX; R is H, methyl) and the recurring units of formula III (Z is X) with a number-average molecular weight of 500-500,000 and (B) a surfactant selected from alkylbenzenesulfonate salts, α-olefinsulfonate salts, alkyl sulfate salts, alkylpolyoxyethylene sulfates, alkyl polyoxyethylene ether sulfate salts, and higher alcohol sulfate ester salt, and preferably in addition, (C) an enzyme, a fluorescent brightener and a foam stabilizer. The weight ratio of the component A to the component B is 1/4-1/30, and the content of the recurring units of formula II is preferably 0.5-20 mol.%.

摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel unsaturated carboxylic acid polymer which comprises repeating units derived from (meth)acrylic acid or its salt, acrolefin, and maleic acid or its salt, has a specified mol.wt., and is useful as a builder or a dispersant. SOLUTION: This polymer comprises 30-80 mol% repeating units of formula I, 0.1-30 mol% repeating units of formula II, and 10-50 mol% repeating units of formula III and has a number average mol.wt. of 500-1,000,000. In the formulas, X is H, an alkali metal, or ammonium; and R is H or methyl. The polymer is obtained by copolymerizing (meth)acrylic acid or its salt, acrolefin, and maleic acid or its salt in a solvent in the presence of a nonoxidizing polymerization initiator. Examples of the initiator include azobisisobutyronitrile, azobis-2,4- dimethylvaleronitrile, azobiscyclohexanecarbonitrile, and tetramethylthiuram disulfide.

SOLUTION: This acrylic acid-based polymer has (A) 1,000-100,000 weight- average molecular weight, (B) 120-300 mg/g calculated as calcium carbonate of calcium ion scavenging ability measured at pH 9-10 at 25 deg.C, (C) >=30% biodegradation ratio, (D) the ratio of an integrated value of a peak at δ 4.0-6.4 ppm to an integrated value of a peak at δ 1.0-3.2 ppm of >=0.01 in proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum ( H-NMR) measurement using a sample by adding an aqueous solution of an alkali metal salt of the polymer to a water/ acetone mixture (volume ratio 1/4) and reprecipitating and (E) preferably 140-180 deg.C melting point. Preferably an acid radical in the molecule of the polymer is a salt type.

摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polymer excellent in chelating capacity, having biodegradability and useful as a builder for detergents or the like by including a specific structure and keeping its number-average molecular weight in a specific range. SOLUTION: This polymer contains (A) 30 to 99 mol%, preferably 40 to 80 mol%, of a repeating unit shown by formula I (X is H, an alkali metal or ammonium), (B) 0 to 69.9 mol%, preferably 20 to 60 mol%, of a repeating unit shown by formula II and (C) 0.1 to 50 mol%, preferably 0.2 to 49%, of total of repeating units shown by formula III, IV and V, and has a number- average molecular weight of 500 to 1,000,000. This polymer is obtained by, e.g. copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its salt (e.g. acrylic acid) with a quinone (e.g. hydroquinone) in the presence of a polymerization initiator (e.g. combination of hydrogen peroxide and ferrous chloride).
