PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emission gas treatment apparatus for a marine vessel capable of being compactly installed on the marine vessel and also stably treating the emission gas for a long time, and an emission gas treatment method for a marine vessel. SOLUTION: The emission gas treatment apparatus 10A for a marine vessel comprises a humidifying and cooling device 14 for humidifying and cooling the emission gas 12 discharged from the engine 11 of the marine vessel and containing soot, dust and sulfur oxide by bringing sea water 13 into contact with the emission gas 12, and a cleaning unit 17 having a cleaning catalyst section 16 for removing the sulfur oxide existing in the humidified and cooled emission gas 15 humidified and cooled in the humidifying and cooling device 14. In this case, the liquid/gas ratio of the contacting sea water 13 to the emission gas 12 passing through the humidifying and cooling device 14 (required water flow rate (L)/emission gas flow rate (Nm 3 )) is set to be 1.5 or more. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing monomers in improved monomer purity and monomer yield in the reaction of a polyalkylene terephthalate with methanol to convert the polymer into the monomers. SOLUTION: The method for producing monortiers from a polyalkylene terephthalate comprises a step to dissolve the polyalkylene terephthalate in dimethyl terephthalate at 200-250°C, a step to react the obtained polyalkylene terephthalate solution with methanol and a step to recover the produced monomers. As an alternative, the polyalkylene terephthalate is reacted with methanol heated with a heater having a surface temperature of ≤400°C and the obtained monomers are recovered to obtain the monomers from the polyalkylene terephthalate.
