PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly-reliable display device in which amounts of moisture and oxygen entering from an encapsulation region, that causes deterioration in characteristics of the display device, is reduced and to provide a method of manufacturing the display device.SOLUTION: There is provided the display device having a display part formed by arranging light-emitting elements employing an organic light-emitting material between a pair of substrates. The display part is formed on an insulating layer formed on one substrate, and the pair of substrates are formed outside the display part and surround the outer periphery, and are fixed by a sealing material formed on the insulating layer. At least one layer of the insulating layer is formed of an organic resin material, and an outer end part of the insulating layer located outside the sealing material is coated by an encapsulation film.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing structure suppressing influences of water infiltrated from outside, and having sufficient reliability, in a light-emitting device using a light-emitting element.SOLUTION: A light-emitting device has a barrier. The barrier is provided with a first opening for providing a light-emitting element, and a second opening. The second opening surrounds an outer periphery of a pixel part. In the second opening, the barrier penetrates through in a thickness direction. A cathode of a light-emitting element is provided to the second opening. A conductive film contacting with the cathode is provided at a bottom of the second opening. Due to such a configuration, water infiltrated from outside is prevented from reaching the light-emitting element of the pixel part by blocking a path, and influences of the water can be suppressed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting display device without adding a new step by simplifying the manufacturing process of a transistor and reducing the number of photomasks than ever before.SOLUTION: The use of an intrinsic or substantially intrinsic oxide semiconductor with high resistance for a semiconductor layer included in a transistor can omit the step of processing the semiconductor layer into an island shape for each transistor. The number of photolithography steps is reduced by simultaneously etching an unnecessary part of the semiconductor layer in a step of forming an opening in the semiconductor layer or an insulation layer formed on the upper surface of the semiconductor layer.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device which has high reliability while being thinned, and to manufacture a light-emitting device in which a light-emitting element is provided on a flexible substrate with a high yield.SOLUTION: A light-emitting device comprises: a substrate having flexibility; a light-emitting element formed on the substrate; and a resin film covering the light-emitting element. An insulating layer functioning as a barrier in the light-emitting element has a convex part. By burying the convex part in the resin film, a light-emitting device having high reliability while being thinned can be provided. In addition, in a production process, the light-emitting device can be produced with a high yield.
