Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve accuracy of abnormality judgement by calculating maximum frequency distribution of a knocking signal in the case that the frequency distribution is judged to be less than a specified value, and judging that a knocking controller is abnormal. CONSTITUTION:In a knocking controller M4, mechanical vibration of an internal combustion engine M1 is detected by a knocking signal detection means M2. Detection of knocking generation or control of the knocking generation is performed by a knocking control means M3 based on the detected knocking signal. In this case, a frequency distribution calculation means M5 which calculates the maximum frequency distribution of the knocking signal from the knocking signal detection means M2 is provided. Whether calculated frequency distribution is less than a specified value or not is judged by a distribution judgement means M6. In the case maximum frequency distribution of the knocking signal is less than the specified value, abnormality of the knocking controller M4 is judged by a abnormality judgement means M7.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the extent of convergeability of optimum ignition timing by controlling the ignition timing to be delayed as much as the initial value at time of a transient driving state when an internal combustion engine has come to a knocking control rage, while making it perform timing advance control through a large variation for a period till the engine shifts to normal knocking control. CONSTITUTION:A controller bearing the above caption is provided with a knocking judgment means C1 judging the state of knocking occurrence in an internal combustion engine EG, and an ignition timing decision means C2 which determines a fundamental ignition timing advance value according to a driving range of this engine EG while increases or decreases a timing delay compensation value compensating the fundamental ignition timing advance value for timing delay according to the judged result of the judgment means C1, with the specified variation. In this case, when a driving state has further come to a knocking control range, there is provided with an initial value setting means C3 which sets the specified initial value as an initial value of the timing delay compensation value. In addition, for a period till knocking occurs at the specified frequency since setting of this initial value has been executed, there is provided with an initial timing advance means C4 which decreases the timing delay compensation value of the initial value through a large variation exceeding an adjustable variation of the said timing delay compensation value.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform suitable exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) in proper quantities by determining engine load in starting EGR according to atmospheric pressure, and controlling an EGR device so that EGR may be performed when the engine load is above the above-mentioned engine load. CONSTITUTION:During the operation of an internal combustion engine 1, when atmospheric pressure obtained by an atmospheric pressure sensor 52 is above its fixed value, a decision is given on whether the number of engine revolutions obtained by an engine speed sensor 53 is below its first fixed value or not. When the number of engine revolutions is below its first fixed value, intake pipe pressure in starting EGR is set to the maximum value. On the other hand, when the number of engine revolutions is not below its first fixed value, the decision is given on whether a difference between the above-mentioned number of engine revolutions and the first fixed number of engine revolutions is below the second fixed value (> the first fixed value) or not, and when the above-mentioned difference is not below the second fixed value, the intake pipe pressure in starting EGR is set to the minimum value. When the intake pipe pressure obtained by an intake pressure sensor 51 is higher than the intake pipe pressure in starting EGR set as above-mentioned, a negative pressure control valve 45 is turned on, and the negative pressure is therefore introduced into the diaphragm chamber of an EGR valve 20 to open it for starting EGR action.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to correct rapidly the discrepancy of the air-fuel ratio to the object air-fuel ratio, by converting the integral constant or the skip constant to be used to renew the correction coefficient to a value larger than a normal value, for a period a specific time passes after the starting of the operation of an exhaust gas recirculation device. CONSTITUTION:During the operation of an internal combustion engine M1, a standard fuel feeding amount is computed by a computing device M4 by using the output of a suction pressure sensor M2 as a parameter. And responding to the comparison of the air-fuel ratio detected by an air-fuel ratio sensor M3 and the object air-fuel ratio, a specific integral constant or a skip constant is added or subtracted to renew the correction coefficient by a nenewal device M5, the standard fuel feeding amount is corrected by the renewed correction coefficient, and the actual fuel feeding amount is computed by a computing device M6. In this case, a constant converting device M8 is furnished, and either the integral constant or the skip constant is converted to a value larger than the normal value, in the period a specific time passes after an exhaust gas recirculation device M7 is started to operate or after the operation is stopped.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the performance of a fuel pump so as to prevent a shortage in the discharge quantity from taking place at the time of starting and also at the time of voltage drop by controlling the operation of the fuel pump in accordance with the ON-OFF signals from a starter switch and the detection signals of a battery voltage. CONSTITUTION:When an ignition switch Ig.SW is in its ON position and a starter switch STA.SW is also in its ON position, a battery voltage VB at the point P is compared with a reference voltage VREF by means of a comparator 234, and then, if VB is not less than VREF (for example, 8V), the comparator 234 is at a high level, and the output of an invertor 235 is caused to be at a low level, and accordingly, a relay 233 is not set to ON. While, if the battery voltage VB is less than VREF, the base of a transistor 236 reaches a high level so as to cause the transistor 236 to be set to ON, and then, the relay contact 233a is closed. In addition, a transistor 238 is set to ON, and the relay 233 is also set to ON, and as a result, the relay contact 233a is opened so that the electric current flows in a fuel pump 24.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To surely prevent variations in the rotational speed of an engine during gear shift operation, by providing a temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of fluid in an automatic speed change gear, and a control means for increasing the output of the engine after an optimum delayed time elapses. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve 24 is attached in an intake manifold 18. An electronic control circuit 44 is connected to a neutral switch 52 and a starter 54. A cooling water sensor 34 detects the temperature of engine cooling water. The temperature of engine cooling water during start of the engine is substantially equal to the temperature of oil in a torque converter in an automatic speed change gear. It is possible to compute an optimum delayed time from the above-mentioned temperature of oil in the torque converter. The electronic control circuit 44 controls the output of the engine so that the latter increases after a time corresponding to the delayed time elapses from the time of gear shift operation. Thus, it is possible to surely prevent variation in the rotational speed of the engine during gear shift operation.

CONSTITUTION:An airflow meter 3 measures an intake air amount of an internal-combustion engine 1, and an output signal is fed to a control device 50. A throttle sensor 5 is provided for detecting the opening of a throttle valve 4. The fuel injection time of a fuel injection valve 9 is decided by a control device 50. An ignitor 12, determining the ignition timing of an ignition plug 11, is driven by a control device 50. This constitution enables maintenance of a proper fuel injection time or ignition timing.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the durability of an engine by installing a temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of the intake air on the downstream of an intercooler and a supercharger abnormally judgement level setting means which sets the abnormally state of a supercharger according to the temperature of the intake air. CONSTITUTION:A supercharged-state signal generating means 5 generates a signal corresponding to the supercharged state factor including an intake air quantity. While, an anomaly judgement level setting means 7 sets the anomaly judgement level of the supercharged state factor corresponding to the intake air temperature on the downstream of an intercooler 3 which is detected by a temperature detecting means 6. A comparison means 8 generates an abnormally signal through the comparison between the actual measured value and the set value of the supercharged state factor. Since the abnormally judgement standard is set on the basis of the intake air temperature on the downstream of the intercooler 3, the variation width of the intake air quantity - rate of revolution speed reduces, and the level for the detection of abnormally can be brought close to the level in normal state. Therefore, the use of an engine under severe conditions for a long period in the high intake air quantity - rate of revolution speed region can be prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a driver to feel acceleration as bodily sensation when a supercharge pilot lamp lights by synchronizing the time point of angle retardation release of the ignition timing with the time point of lighting of a supercharge pilot lamp due to operation of a turbocharger. CONSTITUTION:After calculating an ignition timing theta based on the revolution N of an engine and the load (suction air amount per revolution) Q/N, a supercharge pilot lamp is lit if a flag is not set for performing angle retardation. Namely, when the angle retardation flag is not set, the ignition timing angle is advanced as the angle retardation is released. Based on this, the supercharge pilot lamp 16 is lit. If the angle retardation performing flag is set, on the other hand, a retardation angle amount of the ignition timing X is calculated based on the engine coolant temperature, etc., the ignition timing theta-X is set, and the supercharge pilot lamp 16 is turned off. When the angle retardation of the ignition timing is released, namely at the very time point when the angle is advanced, the supercharge pilot lamp is lit. This makes the pilot lamp 16 to be lit almost the same time when the driver feels the acceleration as bodily sensation.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the undershooting in engine rotation or the engine stall from taking place when a compressor switch is set to ON from OFF by carrying out a mode of control based on the assumption that at the time of starting or immediately after starting, a compressor switch is always being set to ON. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a starter switch operation detecting means A for detecting the ON-OFF operation of a starter switch, and a water temperature-step opening (immediately after starting) computing means B for calculating the opening of an idling speed control valve (ISC valve) E according to the cooling water temperature. In addition, there are also provided a learning value setting and updating means C for setting and updating the learning values at the time a compressor is set to ON or OFF, and a compressor operation detecting means D for detecting the ON-OFF operation of the compressor. And then, when the starter switch is set to OFF immediately after starting, the opening of the ISC valve E is controlled so that the valve is caused to close to a step opening being the sum of an opening obtained from said computing means B and an opening of the learning value at the time the compressor is set to ON.
