PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized solid/fluid contact treatment device which keeps the pressure loss reduced even in the time of treating a large flow rate at a low power cost and prevents the reduction of a reaction rate and the wear of particles. SOLUTION: A plurality of fluid feed pipes provided with a fluid-permeable wall are arranged in a container where solid particles move downward and the contact of the solid particles with the fluid is performed with a small pressure loss by allowing the fluid to pass through the pipe. Further, a plurality of solid particle feed pipes forming a space surrounded with the fluid-permeable wall are arranged in the container where the fluid flows and the contact of the solid particles with the fluid is performed with a small pressure loss by allowing the solid particles to move in the solid particle feed pipes. Furthermore, a plurality of fluid flow passages of which the cross section of the lower part opened is polygonal or semicircular are arranged in the container where the solid particles move downward and the contact of the solid particles with the fluid is performed with a small pressure loss by allowing the fluid to pass through it. A hydrogen generator essentially composed of a first medium is provided, comprising: a reforming zone, a preheating zone and a heat source. The reforming zone is used for containing a reforming catalyst so as to perform a steam reforming reaction of a hydrogen-producing raw material to generate hydrogen; and the heat source provides heat to the preheating zone and reforming zone, so that the hydrogen-producing raw material is firstly preheated in the preheating zone and then performs the steam reforming reaction in the reforming zone. The reforming zone and preheating zone are divided with a shortest interval of at least about 0.5 mm with the first medium, wherein the first medium has a thermal conductivity (K) of at least about 60 W/m-K.
