PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vaporizer for a manually-operated work machine capable of achieving superior rotating behavior of an internal combustion engine while reducing fuel consumption.SOLUTION: A vaporizer for a manually-operated work machine includes a vaporizer case (40) supporting a vaporizer roller (37) rotatably around a rotation axis (76). A needle (48) projecting into a fuel hole (90) of the vaporizer (36) is fixed to the vaporizer roller (37), and a position of the needle (48) to the vaporizer roller (37) is adjustable through a position adjusting element (49). The position adjusting element (49) has an engagement contour portion (52) with which a tool for displacing the position adjusting element (49) can be engaged. The vaporizer (36) has a retaining contour portion (19) connected with the vaporizer roller (37) in a state that they cannot be relatively rotated. An clearance gap (g) between the retaining contour portion (19) and the rotation axis (76) is less than approximately 10 mm at any position of the retaining contour portion (19).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine including a reed valve capable of reliably cutting off an air-fuel mixture to prevent the overspeed of the engine.SOLUTION: The engine includes: a carburetor; a cylinder block having an intake opening opened to a space in which a piston reciprocates, and an intake port formed to supply the air-fuel mixture supplied from the carburetor to a crank chamber disposed to a crankcase; and an insulator 19 disposed between the carburetor and the cylinder block and having an intake passage connecting the intake port with the carburetor. The reed valve 21 made from magnetic material, and an electromagnet 27 which has an iron core with two magnetic pole pieces 25b, 25c and a coil 26 wound around a part of the iron core, are assembled (cast) in the insulator. The electromagnet 27 is controlled by a control unit, and the reed valve 21 is kept to be closed by energization of the electromagnet.
