PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording/reproduction device and an optical information recording/reproduction method for achieving a high recording transfer rate, and for reproducing information recorded with high density.SOLUTION: An optical information recording/reproduction device is provided with: a first light source; a second light source for emitting the rays of light whose wavelength is shorter than that of the first light source; an objective lens for concentrating the rays of light from the first light source and the second light source in an optical information recording medium; and a light detection part for detecting reflected rays of light from the optical information recording medium. When information is recorded in the optical information recording medium, the rays of light for recording are emitted from the first light source, and the rays of light for generating a signal for controlling the position of the objective lens are emitted from the second light source. Also, when the information of the optical information recording medium is reproduced, the rays of light for reproduction are emitted from the second light source.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method and a recording apparatus for an optical recording medium, which can adjust exposure intensity when recording information on the optical recording medium by using a pulsed laser beam, and to provide a multi-layer optical recording medium. SOLUTION: The recording method for the optical recording medium records optically changed portions as information by using a pulsed laser beam to expose the optical recording medium. In the recording method, the optical recording medium is irradiated with a pulsed laser beam while causing at least one of the optical recording medium and the pulsed laser beam to be moved relative to each other, a length (pit length Lp) of one optically changed portion is associated with a scanning length Ls of a plurality of pulses of pulsed laser beam, and the exposure intensity of one optically changed portion is adjusted by causing a shutter to selectively reduce the number of pulses of the pulsed laser beam when recording one optically changed portion.
