Provided is an optical information recording medium which records/reproduces information by applying a laser beam to change an optical characteristic of a recording layer in which Pr1/Pw1 is 0.15 or above, wherein Pr1 is an upper limit reproduction power at which reproduction can be performed without degrading a reproduction signal and Pw1 is a recording threshold value power. Since a high-power reproduction can be performed, it is possible to improve a signal quality by reducing a circuit noise and a laser noise. Moreover, by utilizing the high reproduction light resistance, it is possible to realize a high-density recordable optical information recording medium. Thus, it is possible to provide a recordable optical disc having a low degradation of a recording mark even under a high temperature condition and a high reproduction light resistance and enabling recording/reproduction with a blue light appropriate for a high-density recording.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize stable recording and reproducing in/from an information recording medium by utilizing an absorption edge shift phenomenon.SOLUTION: An optical information recording/reproducing device 100 comprises: a light source 20 for emitting a laser beam; a lens 6 for condensing the laser beam on an information recording medium 21; and a photodetector 19 for detecting reflection light from the information recording medium 21. A recording layer of the information recording medium 21 contains a material in which an absorption ratio of the laser beam is increased by an absorption edge of an optical absorption spectrum being moved to a longer wavelength due to band-to-band transition of electrons as a temperature is increased. The optical information recording/reproducing device 100 further comprises: a wavelength detection section 26 for detecting at least one of a wavelength of the laser beam and wavelength variations; a temperature detection section 27 for detecting at least one of a temperature of the information recording medium 21 or around the information recording medium 21 and temperature variations; and a control section 28 for controlling power of the light source 20 on the basis of respective outputs of the wavelength detection section 26 and the temperature detection section 27.

The present invention provides a method of reading information from a luminescent data storage medium comprising Al 2 O 3 . The luminescent material is a single crystal of Al 2 O 3 comprising a first dopant of magnesium and a second dopant comprising carbon wherein the material includes at least one type of oxygen vacancy defect. The disclosure relates to writing and erasing of the information using photoionization via sequential two-photon absorption and non-destructive reading the information using one-photon absorption and confocal fluorescent detection. The apparatuses for writing and reading the information incorporate confocal detection and spherical aberration correction for multilayer volumetric fluorescent data storage. The methods also allow multilevel recording and readout of information for increased storage capacity.
