PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for recovering a carbon dioxide which is used for a supercritical extraction. SOLUTION: This recovery apparatus (1) is constituted to provide a pressurized carbon dioxide, a waste material generated in extraction process and in some cases a process flow (61) including at least one kind of cosolvent from a supercritical extraction process (60), to reduce a pressure of the process flow below the critical pressure, to exhaust a low pressure carbon dioxide steam (66), to form a two-phases mixture by cooling the process flow, to divide into a process liquid (71) including the cosolvent and a process steam phase flow (72). The recovery apparatus is constituted to collect the process liquid, to filtrate the process steam phase flow (72), to remove a particulate material and a residual cosolvent, to form a refined carbon dioxide steam flow (90) by passing the filtrated process steam flow (81) through an absorber (85) and removing impurities of trace amount, and to dry and remove the residual steam. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which is improved in a process for delivering ultra high purity liquid carbon dioxide to a point of use at a pressure above ambient without pumping. SOLUTION: In the process, a high purity carbon dioxide feed is charged to a vessel and at least partially solidified. Once filled, the slush or solid is isochorically heated, i.e., heated at a constant vessel volume whereby the solid phase carbon dioxide is converted to a liquid. Then, the liquid is withdrawn from the vessel at a desired pressure at a rate at which the solid phase carbon dioxide is converted to the liquid. Separation of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide in a distillation column 14 is improved by adding a component to increase the relative volatility of carbon dioxide to hydrogen sulfide. Increasing the relative volatility facilitates the separation. The additional component comprises for example a C3-C6 alkane, SO2 or SO3.

A pressurized high purity liquid carbon dioxide streams produced by purifying a feed stream composed of carbon dioxide vapor within a purifying filter (12) and then condensing it within a condenser (20). The resulting liquid is then alternately introduced and dispensed from two first and second pressure accumulation chambers (28,30). The first and second pressure accumulation chambers (28,30) are heated by electrical heaters (32,34) to pressurize the liquid to the required or desired delivery pressure of the pressurized liquid carbon dioxide stream. Such stream is alternately extracted from the first and second pressure accumulation chambers (28,30) on a continuous basis in which one of the first and second pressure accumulation chambers (28,30) acts in a dispensing role while the other is being filled. The pressurized liquid carbon dioxide stream can be further filtered within a particulate filter.
