A hydroformable frame element is formed from the combination of at least two elements. The at least two elements are designed with a partially overlapping region, with an annular space defined within the overlapping region. The annular space is filled with adhesive, which is then cured to bond the at least two elements together. The adhesive bond is designed to withstand the stresses caused by the hydroforming operation and to retain its strength so that the hydroformed article is then usable as a vehicular frame element.

The first surface (26) is nearly perpendicular to the second surface (28). The bonding material is disposed on both the first surface (26) and the second surface (28). The reinforcer (22) is configured so that the first surface (26) is nearly parallel to the longitudinal axis (L) of the structural member (20), and the second surface (28) is nearly perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (L) of the structural member (20). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrally structured aircraft cabin flooring. SOLUTION: The integrated aircraft cabin flooring structure includes a longitudinally separated series of transverse bridges having an upper doubler flange which defines latitudinally separated upper openings and a latitudinally separated series of beams which include an upper flange and a pair of separated suspending web flanges received within respective upper opening of transverse bridges. The upper flanges and web flanges of the beams may thus be connected to the transverse bridges in a load-supporting aircraft flooring system and structure as a representative of the integrated aircraft cabin flooring structure. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite structure having components with a graded coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) so as to connect two structures with a very different CTE, and to provide a method for producing a composite structure with the graded CTE. SOLUTION: An integrated composite structure with the graded coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is formed by selecting a plurality of layers of materials with the graded CTE and using build-up (bottom-up) fabrication approaches such as metal deposition or powder metallurgy to produce a CTE-graded layered composite preform, which is then consolidated and heat treated to create the CTE-graded integrated composite billet or near net shape. The integrated composite billet or near net shape is then processed to produce a first surface for attachment of a first structural member having a first CTE and to produce a second surface for attachment of a second structural member having a second CTE.
