摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide metal parts of a new composition having an excellent heat resistance and corrosion resistance. SOLUTION: The method of producing the parts from the powdered metal comprises (a) the step of providing a metallic powder containing iron, 0 to 0.6wt% carbon, 0.5 to 5.0wt% silicon, 0.5 to 6.0wt% nickel, 0.5 to 1.5wt% molybdenum, 0 to 0.7wt% manganese, and 12 to 20wt% chromium (the respective weight percentages calculated based on the total weight of the powder), (b) the step of obtaining a green compact by compressing the powders at a pressure of 35 to 65 tsi, and (c) the step of heating the compact to a temperature of 2,100 to 2,400°F for 20 to 90 minutes, such that the resulting microstructure of the compact is either dual phase ferritic and austenitic or single phase ferritic. SOLUTION: A piston 10 for a diesel engine is constituted by forming a top ring groove 12 on a peripheral surface of a top surface part 11, a second ring groove 13 and an oil ring groove 14, and an wear resistant ring 20 to improve abrasion resistance is provided in the top ring groove 13 in such a way as to insertingly cast. This wear resistant ring 20 is formed by sintering and bonding a first member 40 and a second member 50 divided in two with each other, and at this time, simultaneously, the piston ring groove 12 is formed on the outer peripheral side and a cooling cavity part 30 is formed on the inner peripheral side. The first member 40 is formed so as to have a cross-section U shaped circumferential groove part, and the second member 50 is formed so as to have an extended part in order to close the U shaped groove part of the first member 40.

摘要: PURPOSE:To obtain a piston ring with high abrasion resistance, excellent sliding performance and generally prolonged life by sintering powder such as carbide into grooves provided on the sliding surface of a piston ring and simultaneously bonding it to piston ring body material to form the sliding surface. CONSTITUTION:Plural grooves 5 narrower than the width of the piston ring sliding surface and deeper than 2mm are provided, and powder such as carbide is sintered into the grooves 5 and simultaneously bonded to piston ring body material 1 to form a sliding surface. The sliding surface is thus formed of high hardness abrasion resistant material, and if highly flexible general iron or steel is used as the piston ring body material 1, two-layer structure is obtained to prevent an accident caused by the breaking of a piston ring and also the piston ring four to five times more durable than the conventional rings can be obtained.

摘要: PURPOSE:To form exactly a valve seat having inclined grooves by packing sintered powder into the cavity formed of a lower core provided with inclined projecting parts on the side face, a die and a lower punch and compressing the sintered powder by rotating and lowering the upper punch provided with the inclined grooves. CONSTITUTION:A cavity is formed of a lower core 100 formed with plural inclined projecting parts 102 on an outside circumferential surface 101, a lower punch 103 and a die 104 and sintered powder 109 is packed therein. An upper punch 106 formed with plural inclined grooves 108 on the inside circumferential surface is lowered under pressure while the punch is rotated in a way as to avoid contact of the grooves 108 and the parts 102 to mold compressively the powder 109 thereby forming an intake valve seat 2. The punch 106 is then rotated backward and is moved upward to be detached from the die and thereafter the lower core 100 and the punch 103 are simultaneously moved upward to expose the seat 2 from the die 104. The core 100 is lowered and the seat 2 is taken out.

摘要: PURPOSE:To provide a piston ring having a high dimensional accuracy by a method wherein a lower punch is provided with a protruded part and an upper punch with depression, both at the positions corresponding to the free mating mouth parts of a piston ring; and both the punches, core and die are used together to compress and form a metal powder further apply recompression after sintering, the titled piston ring is obtained. CONSTITUTION:A protrusion 31 is provided to a lower punch 3 at the position corresponding to the free mating mouth of a piston ring; in the same way, a depression 41 is provided to an upper punch 4. A die 1, core 2, the upper punch 4 and lower punch 3 are used to compress and form a metal powder 5, thereby providing a pressed powder element 6. The obtained pressed-powder element 6 is sintered to reduce strain occurrence, then is subjected to barrel polishing to remove burrs. Then, to provide a desired piston ring, the upper and lower punches are used to recompress the sintered element 6 in a die having the inner surface dimensions and shape equal to the outer surface dimension and shape of the piston ring.
