    Abstract: 8-(anilino)-1-naphthalenesulfonate (ANS) analogs and methods for their use in analyte detection assays are provided. The subject ANS analogs are characterized by having at least one non-hydrogen substituent on their phenyl moiety and producing a reaction product with 3-methyl-benzothiazolinone hydrazone hydrochloride (MBTH) or an analog thereof, e.g. MBTHSB, that exhibits reduced drift. In certain preferred embodiments, the subject ANS analogs are described by formula (I) wherein: n is 1 to 5; and X is a substituent other than H. The subject ANS analogs find use in a variety of applications, particularly in analyte detection assays, such as glucose detection assays.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a uniform dyed material having good light and wet fastness properties by dyeing wool and blends thereof with other fibers by using a reactive dye bath containing a specific colorless fiber reactive compound. CONSTITUTION: Firstly wool and blends thereof with other fibers is treated with a treating bath containing a colorless reactive compound of formula I [(n) is 0 or 1; when (n) is 1, A is a group of formula II, B is an alkylene, an alkenylene or a direct bond and when (n) is 0, A is a group of formula III or formula IV; R1 is a group of formula V or a group of formula VI (Hal is a halogen; R is H or a halogen; (n) is 1 or 0); R2 is H, SO3 M or the like; and R3 is H, SO3 M or a group of formula VII (M is H, an alkali metal or the like; a compound of formula IV contains one SO3 M group) in a short time. Then, a reactive dye is added to the same both, the wool and the blends thereof with other fibers are dyed by a routine procedure to give a uniform dyed material having fastness to dyeing in light to medium color shades.
