PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new dichlorophthalides, especially 3,5-dischlorophthalide and 3,6-dichlorophthalide, that can profitably produce compounds useful in various kinds of fields, to provide a method for producing the dichlorophthalides, and to provide a method for producing a 2-formylbenzoic acid nucleus- chlorination product from the mixture, capable of profitably producing 4- chloro-2-formylbenzoic acid (4-COFBA) and 5-chloro-2-formylbenzoic acid (5- COFBA) using a mixture of them. SOLUTION: This method for producing dichlorophthalides comprises hydrolyzing 1-trichloromethyl-2-dichloromethylbenzene mononucleus chlorination product mixture in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst and subsequently distilling the obtained reaction product to obtain the purified mixture of 3,5- dichlorophthalide with 3,6-dichlorophthalide. This method for producing a 2- formylbenzoic acid nucleus chlorinated product comprises hydrolyzing the mixture and subsequently crystallizing the hydrolysis product to separate 4-chloro-2- formylbenzoic acid and 5-chloro-2-formylbenzoic acid.

PURPOSE:To improve preservation stability of a color undeveloped part and a color developed image by incorporating at least one type of specific naphthalenecarboxylic acid derivative or/and polyvalent metallic salt of the derivative in a heat sensitive recording material containing electron donative color developing compound and electron accepting compound. CONSTITUTION:A heat sensitive recording material contains electron donative color developing compound and electron accepting compound to be used in fields of a facsimile, a recorder and a printer, and comprises at least one type of naphthalenecarboxylic acid derivative or/and polyvalent metallic salt of the derivative. As the salt of such a naphthalenecarboxylic acid derivative, hard water soluble or water insoluble bivalent, trivalent or tetravalent metallic salt, preferably bivalent or trivalent metallic salt is included, or preferably zinc salt or calcium salt is included. Thus, preservation stabilities (moist heat resistance, oil resistance, writing instrument resistance) of a color undeveloped part and a color developed image are enhanced.

PURPOSE:To obtain a substance having aromatase-inhibiting action and contrive to improve remedy for mastocarcinoma, etc., by culturing specific microorganism of genus penicillium in medium. CONSTITUTION:Penicillium funiculosum No.8974 strain (A) is obtained by separating from soil, etc. Said strain exhibits mycological properties such as: growing range in agar-agar medium of malt extract, etc., of pH 3-12, optimum growing temperature of 13-30 deg.C; conidiophore:50-130mum; conidiospore: egg-shape and 1.5-2.2mum; and has productivity of TAN-931. Next, said strain (A) is inoculated in a medium containing grape sugar or peptone, etc., and cultured with stirring in aeration of pH 3-10 at 15-32 deg.C for 2-14 day to obtain a cultured substance (B). Next, the component (B) is centrifuged, extracted and purified to produce bioactive substance TAN-931 having physicochemical properties such as: shape: solid of yellow-orange or orange; melting point: 241-244 deg.C; molecular weight: 302; molecular formula: C15H10O7 and expressed by the formula (R1 is carboxyl; R2-4 are H; A is formyl; X is H), or salt of said compound.
