【課題】潤滑油組成物の生成において有用な粘度指数向上剤濃縮物を提供する。 【解決手段】粘度指数向上剤濃縮物であって、希釈オイル中に、1種またはそれ以上の線状ブロックコポリマーおよび少なくとも1種の星形ポリマーを含み、ここで該線状ブロックコポリマーは、ジエン由来の少なくとも一つのブロックに対して共有結合により結合した、アルケニルアレーン由来の少なくとも一つのブロックを有し、該コポリマーの量は、該希釈オイル中の該線状ブロックコポリマーに関する、質量%単位で表された臨界重なり濃度(c h * )よりも大きな量であり、該星形ポリマーは、該濃縮物中の該星形ポリマーのc/c h * 値が、0.01〜約1.6の範囲に入るような量で存在し、ここでcは該濃縮物中の星形ポリマーの質量%で表した濃度であり、またc h * は該希釈オイル中の該星形ポリマーに関する質量%で表された臨界重なり濃度である。 【選択図】なし

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscosity index improver, which is high in viscosity index improving effect, and hardly raises the low-temperature viscosity of a lubricant composition.SOLUTION: A viscosity index improver contains a (co)polymer (A) including a monomer (a) represented by general formula (1) as an essential component monomer and having a solubility parameter of 8.5-9.5; and a (co)polymer (B) including a monomer (b) represented by general formula (2) and/or a monomer (c) represented by general formula (3) as essential component monomers, and having a solubility parameter of 8.5-9.5.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer mixture useful as a viscosity improver for lubricating oil.SOLUTION: This mixture includes (A): a copolymer containing about 70 to about 79 wt.% of units derived from ethylene, and having (a) Mw measured by gel permeation chromatography employing polystyrene standard ranging from about 50,000 up to less than 130,000, and/or (f) SSI≤18; (b) density (D) ranging from about 845 to about 895 kg/m; (c) the value of formula (1): Mw/Mn is less than 3; (d) melting point (Tm) measured by differential scanning calorimeter ranging from about 15°C to about 60°C; and (e) degree of crystallinity ≥15%; and (B) an amorphous polymer having Mw ranging from about 130,000 to about 1,000,000, and having degree of crystallinity, ≤5%.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition whose kinematic viscosity at 40°C, kinematic viscosity at 100°C and HTHS (high-temperature high-shear) viscosity at 100°C are sufficiently low, while maintaining HTHS viscosity at 150°C, and excellent in fuel saving property of a high improvement ratio of friction torque and low temperature viscosity. SOLUTION: This lubricating oil composition includes: a lubricating base oil having a kinematic viscosity of 2.0-12 mm 2 /s at 100°C; and a viscosity index improver having a weight average molecular weight of 5,000-1,000,000 and a viscosity/oil film thickness ratio of ≤0.2, wherein the content of the viscosity index improver is 0.1-50 mass% on the basis of the total amount of the lubricating oil composition. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition having excellent metal fatigue life characteristics even in the case of having low viscosity. SOLUTION: The lubricating oil composition includes at least a component A and a component B. The component A is a base oil for a lubricating oil. The component B is at least one kind of terminal-modified polydienes included in the base oil for a lubricating oil. The content of the terminal-modified polydienes is 0.1-50 wt.% based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition.
