PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zinc higher fatty acid salt block formed product which is useful for a lubricant, a cleaning auxilliary and the like without a risk of trouble of cracking, is reduced in the variation of hardness and in the amount ground with a brush or the like, and effectively used as a lubricant and a cleaning auxilliary for the office equipment such as an electrostatic copier and other precision apparatuses. SOLUTION: The zinc higher fatty acid salt block formed product is produced by the cooling and solidification of a heated and fused composition containing (A) 100 parts mass of a high purity zinc higher fatty acid salt with a purity of 99.8% or over and (B) 0.1-1.0 part mass in terms of a metal of a lower fatty acid salt, a higher fatty acid salt and an inorganic carbonate containing an alkali metal of the group I in the periodic table or an alkaline earth metal of the group II in the periodic table. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a soap, whereby the soap can easily be released from a mold, and the productivity is high. SOLUTION: The method is one comprising filling a molten soap into the cavity C of a mold 40 formed by assembling spit molds 1 and 2 and opening the mold 40 after solidifying the molten soap to release the solidified soap from the mold 40, wherein the mold 40 is opened when the soap S being in the state in which its surface is solidified while its inside remains unsolidified is held in at least either of the split molds 1 and 2, a gas is blown over the soap S from the split mold in which the soap S is held, while the soap S is delivered from the split mold 1 to a receiving apparatus 40.
