Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem occurring in aspect of durability and the possibility of a long period use, resulting from damage and deterioration caused by a high temperature chemical reaction on a junction face between a rare-earth hexaboride single crystal nanofiber and a heat-resistant support metal needle, which is generated in a high temperature use process, when joining the rare-earth hexaboride single crystal nanofiber of lanthanum hexaboride or the like to the heat-resistant metal support needle, to be used as a hot-cathode electron emission source.SOLUTION: This hot-cathode electron emission source is constituted to form at least a junction portion of the heat-resistant metal support needle contacting with the rare-earth hexaboride single crystal nanofiber, of a heat resistant material not reacting chemically with the nanofiber even at a high temperature.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filament device which does not generate a position shift of a filament tip in use, compared with a prior art. SOLUTION: A distortion of a tungsten wire 3 by a heat generated in use of the filament device is prevented by forming the tungsten wire 3 into a V-form folded only at a point of its center portion of it, forming a folding portion B folded to a mutually approached direction from a parallel portion P penetrating an insulator 1 on a end side of a pair of pins 2a, 2b fixing both ends, and fixing both ends of the tungsten wire 3 to the folding portion B by welding to facilitate a folding of the tungsten wire 3 in the same plane and reduce a possibility for a distortion stress or the like caused by a heat on welding to remain in the tungsten wire 3.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life electrode, by which waste of electrode material can be omitted, a transition time from glow discharge to arc discharge can be shortened, and blackening of a bulb inside wall of a lamp can be prevented, a discharge lamp, and a lighting device including this lamp. SOLUTION: An electrode 1A is provided with a bottomed cylindrical container 2 consisting of conductive high melting point material and having a recess part 3A, which is arranged on the front face side and provided with an inside wall 31 circumferential length longer than the front face circumferential length, thermal electron emitting parts 4... made of granular semiconductive ceramics filling the inside of the recess part 3A of the container 2, and a retaining member 5 for the container 2. The electrode 1A is hermetically arranged in a discharge lamp FL. The discharge lamp FL is mounted in a lighting device 9.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a thermoelectron emitting amount with a simple structure. SOLUTION: A central area of a filament body 1 formed by a LaB6 material is to be as an electron emitting area 2 as well as an electron emitting surface 3 is formed to the electron emitting area 2. An electron emitting amount is increased by annularly bending the electron emitting surface 3 to expand its surface. It may attempt to stabilize a temperature of the electron emitting area 2 by forming a temperature compensation area 5 around the electron emitting area 2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To use a hot cathode structural body for a long period without breaking it near the junction of a conducting ceramic by connecting a metal piece on the inside of the conducting ceramic, and connecting the current guide terminal junction between the metal piece and an insulating material. CONSTITUTION:When a conducting ceramic 1 is used as a heating element, a metal piece 2 is connected on the inside of the ceramic 1, and a current guide terminal junction 3 is pinched and connected in the horizontal direction between the metal piece 2 and an insulating material (insulator) 4. The size difference between the inner size of the ceramic 1 and the metal piece 2 is set to 20mum or below, and the metal piece 2 electrically connects the ceramic 1 and the junction 3 and fixes the insulating material 4 at the preset position. The junction 3 is pinched and connected in the horizontal direction between the metal piece 2 and the insulating material 4, and the generation of stress due to the expansion of the metal junction 3 having a larger thermal expansion coefficient can be avoided. The occurrence of cracks by the thermal stress near the connection end section of the ceramic 1 emitting thermoelectrons is prevented, and a long life can be obtained.
