Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical method for modifying the physical characteristics of a nonwoven fibrous web (5). SOLUTION: The method includes passing the web between at least one pair of interengaged rollers (8, 9) to incrementally stretch the web (5), and withdrawing the incrementally stretched web from between the rollers under tension. The web modified according to the method has advantageous elongation, extensibility and strength characteristics as well as other desirable characteristics. In another aspect, a method is provided for forming a composite material (12) by combining a modified nonwoven web (9a) with a polymeric film or an elastic member (11) which is liquid-impervious yet breathable. In yet other aspect, a method is provided for forming a composite material by combining a modified web with a polymeric film which is rendered liquid-impervious yet breathable while the method is performed. The modified nowoven webs and composite materials made according to the methods may be advantageously employed in absorbent articles such as disposable diapers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing filament nonwoven fabric excellent in surface homogeneity, manifesting high quality crease in applying to an artificial grain leather. SOLUTION: In the method for producing filament nonwoven fabric, filament has structure dividable into at least two kinds of fibers immediately after spinning and at least a kind of fiber has heat shrinking property. The filament nonwoven fabric is produced in the method comprising directly collecting the filaments immediately after spinning, on a net and building-up and then entangling with a swinging type needling machine which swings in traveling direction and then subjecting to a mechanical dividing process and a hot-water shrinking process. The filament nonwoven fabric is preferably produced by continuously subjecting the filaments to the spinning, building-up, entangling, dividing, and shrinking process without temporarily winding the filaments, and the preferable fineness of the filaments after dividing is 0.5-0.001 dtex, and the preferable polymer comprising the filaments is polyester and polyamide. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-absorbing nonwoven fabric retaining excellent water absorption properties and moisture-absorbing and releasing properties and capable of controlling water absorption properties and strength by content of a water-absorbing resin. SOLUTION: The water-absorbing nonwoven fabric comprises a water-absorbing fiber containing 1-100% thermoplastic water-absorbing resin in which a polyalkylene glycol is copolymerized, and has ≥7% moisture absorption ratio under ≤80% relative humidity at 40°C and ≥15% water retention rate. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass fiber sheet which is readily handleable and is not woven at the central part and a composite material which is obtained using the sheet, has a low coefficient of linear expansion and excellent surface smoothness applicable to a substrate for a display device. SOLUTION: The filament glass fiber sheet comprises a sheetlike warp layer in which glass fiber warps stood in the same direction are laid and arranged closely and adjacently and a sheetlike weft layer in which glass fiber wefts are laid and arranged closely and adjacently in the direction perpendicularly to the direction of fiber axis of the sheetlike warp layer. The sheetlike warp layer is laminated to the sheetlike weft layer. The filament glass fiber sheet is woven in a cross state only at both the end parts but not at the central part of the sheet. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonwoven fabric having deformation adaptability against unevenness, capable of dealing with an abnormal tension concentration without being broken and suitable as a geo-textile. SOLUTION: This nonwoven fabric excellent in shape adaptability is characterized by using a fibrous structure as a reinforcing material, having ≥20g/m 2 mass per unit area of the reinforcing material, and exhibiting the reinforcing effect after stretched by ≥10% elongation. The reinforcing direction of the reinforcing material is preferably ≥25° and
Abstract:
An apparatus and related process for entangling a staple fibrous web which employs divergent fluid jets. The web is advanced through an entangling station on a conveying means which supports an entangling member having a symmetrical pattern of fluid pervious void areas. The divergent jet sprays which are disposed above the entangling member direct a continuous curtain of fluid onto the web, coacting with the entangling member to entangle web fibers into a coherent lattice structure. The divergent jet sprays are provided by nozzles having wide orifice diameters which accommodate less complex fluid recirculation and filtration systems than employed in the prior art columnar jet processes.
