Abstract:
The present invention provides a vapor phase process for the production of difluoromethane, HFC-32. The process of this invention provides for the preparation of HFC-32 by a process that exhibits both good product yield and selectivity.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for producing 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (HFC-134a). The process reacts, 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane (HCFC-133a) and hydrogen fluoride in a first reactor. The product resulting from the first reaction step is brought to a second reactor together with trichloroethylene and hydrogen fluoride. The second reaction is conducted at a higher temperature than the first reactor. Optionally, HCl is removed prior to removal of the crude HFC-134a product. Unreacted HCFC-133a, trichloroethylene and hydrogen fluoride may be recycled back to the first reactor.
Abstract:
A method for removing unsaturated impurities from 1,1-difluoroethane by intimately contacting the impure 1,1-difluoroethane with sulfuric acid. This process is especially useful for removing one or more unsaturated halocarbons having two carbon atoms such as vinyl chloride, vinyl fluoride and blends thereof from the 1,1-difluoroethane.

Abstract:
A process for the preparation of halogenated alkanes is provided. In particular, a process is provided for the highly selective preparation of haloalkanes, including 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane, pentachlorobutane, and hepatchlorohexane, in good yield.
Abstract:
A 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropane product of greater than about 99.9 weight percent purity containing less than about 100 parts per million unsaturated fluorocarbons and a method for its purification from a distillation mixture of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropane with at least one unsaturated fluorocarbon which method includes the steps of:a) reacting the mixture with chlorine to saturate the unsaturated fluorocarbons,b) washing the reacted mixture with an aqueous solution to remove residual hydrochloric acid and chlorine,c) removing the aqueous solution, andd) distilling the reacted mixture to obtain a 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoropropane product of greater than about 99.9 weight percent purity containing less than about 100 parts per million unsaturated fluorocarbons.
Abstract:
The present invention provides catalysts and processes for the fluorination of hydrohalomethanes. In particular, the invention provides a process for the fluorination of hydrohalomethanes using hydrogen fluoride and a Lewis Acid catalyst. More specifically, catalysts and a process for the fluorination of dichloromethane are provided.

Abstract:
A process for producing a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) comprising (a) providing a fluoropolymer-lined reactor; (b) adding a chlorinated organic compound in liquid phase and a fluorination agent to the reactor; and (c) reacting at least a portion of the chlorinated organic compound with at least a portion of the fluorination agent to produce the HFC.
