Abstract: Refractory anchoring devices include a main anchor body and a mounting stud. The main anchor body includes a plurality of anchor branch segments angled with respect to one another and a plurality of extension segments, each extension segment extends outwardly from a respective one of the plurality of anchor branch segments. The mounting includes a bottom vessel-attaching portion and an upper anchor-attaching portion that is wider than the bottom vessel-attaching portion. Abstract: The invention relates to a partial oxidation reactor (POX reactor) for producing a raw synthesis gas stream by partial oxidation of a carbon-containing input stream in gaseous form, in liquid form or in solid, particulate form dispersed in a carrier liquid or a carrier gas in the presence of an oxygen-containing oxidant stream and optionally a moderator stream containing steam and/or carbon dioxide. The invention further relates to a process for producing a raw synthesis gas stream. The partial oxidation reactor according to the invention provides for introducing a cylindrical or frustoconical inlet region having a constant diameter or a diameter that is smaller on the entrance side. The inlet region is arranged upstream of a cylindrical main reactor portion and represents a bottleneck-like section since the largest diameter of the inlet region is smaller than the diameter of the cylindrical main reactor portion.

Abstract: A jet impingement reactor having a small, spheroidal reaction chamber is provided. The reaction chamber exhibits a first and a second fluid inlet arranged at opposite positions of the reaction chamber such as to point at one another, and wherein each of the first and the second fluid inlet comprises a nozzle. The distance between the nozzles is the same or smaller than the diameter of the reaction chamber along the first central axis. Preferably, the nozzles are comprised in fluid inlet connectors that are reversibly insertable into the wall of the reaction chamber such as to provide the first and the second fluid inlet. The invention further provides a method of mixing two fluids based on jet impingement using the reactor according to the invention.

Abstract: Refractory anchoring devices include a main body and a mounting feature for mounting to a thermal vessel. The main body includes four anchor branch segments angled with respect to each other to form an X shape with four unenclosed cell openings, including two opposite triangular side openings and two opposite triangular end openings. In some embodiments, the main body further includes extension segments extending from and angled relative to respective branch segments to define two of the opposite openings as semi-hexagonal. Some embodiments include reinforcement segments extending from branch segments into openings, voids extending through branch segments, two anchor strips inter-engaged to form the four branch segments, and/or a single stud-welding stud for the mounting feature. Refractory anchoring systems and methods include an array of the refractory anchoring devices arranged and mounted so that the unenclosed openings of adjacent anchoring devices cooperatively form substantially hexagonal and rhombus shaped cells.

Abstract: A corrosion resistant duplex stainless steel (ferritic austenitic alloy) is suitable for use in a plant for the production of urea. Abstract: A universal chemical processor (UCP) including a reactor vessel having a central longitudinal axis and main chamber comprises a first inlet port for a main feedstock, a second inlet port for a fluidizing medium and a third inlet port for one or more reactants. The UCP also includes a reactive radioactive chemical processor (R2CP) that contains a radioactive element positioned extending along the longitudinal axis in the main chamber. In operation, a fluidized bed can be supported in the main chamber when a fluidizing medium and feedstock are supplied to the main chamber through the first and second inlet ports and the radioactive element of the R2CP emits ionizing radiation that is capable of ionizing feedstock and reactants, inducing chemical reactions, and sterilizing and decomposing any organic materials within a radiation zone.

Abstract: A reactor shell for producing olefins via steam cracking from a fed reactive mixture stream composed of steam and hydrocarbons comprising: at least one reactive stream duct formed within said reactor shell, at least one structured ceramic bed having a plurality of hollow flow paths, at least one electrical resistance heating element for heating the reactive mixture stream up to a predetermined reaction temperature and a coating provided on a surface contacting with the reactive mixture stream is provided. The reactor shell is characterized by that said electrical resistance heating element that is arranged inside at least some of said hollow flow paths in a manner that there still remains a flowing passage inside the hollow flow paths.
